Jeb for prez in 2016? The idea gains steam (Barf Alert)
Orlando Sentinal ^ | Apr 1, 2014 | Scott Maxwell

Support for a Bush candidacy is building far beyond Florida.

At a gathering of prominent conservatives in Las Vegas last weekend — where presidential hopefuls kissed the ring of billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson — Bush was among those who puckered up. And the donors liked what they saw.

"GOP elite hoping to lure Jeb Bush," trumpeted the headline at the top of the Washington Post's Sunday-morning paper.

Some see Bush as the party's best hope.

Others see weaknesses ripe for exploitation.

I think both sides are right.

Right now, Florida's 43rd governor towers above most of the other Republicans toying with a presidential run.

Other guys may have their moments in the sun, temporarily firing up the base with a wisecrack, filibuster or fiery talk-show appearance. But their moments are fleeting.

"None of these big donors think Rand Paul is going to win. None think Ted Cruz is going to win," MSNBC's house conservative, Joe Scarborough, told his audience Monday. "None of these big donors think ... any of these people can win. They think Jeb can win the nomination."

I agree with Joe. Of the party's current crop, he is the GOP's best shot — a guy with a track record of doing, rather than simply yapping.

Again, I ask what are “conservatives” sucking up to Adelson.

Pro child molesting and pro sodomy is nowhere a true conservative wants to be.

***The Orlando Senile is a Mickey Mouse newspaper of the most liberal leaning***

You have said rightly... and Scott Maxwell is capable to make one's hair stand on end at the drop of a participle...

If the GOP backs Jeb in '16 we can take it as a sign that they do NOT want to win the Presidency - cowardly yielding to the Hildebeest or whomever... anything to block the Tea Party.

I know Jeb personally from long before he was Governor. He is more conservative than his brother, but there are issues that would make him a less than ideal POTUS, chief among them is his opposition to fracking and oil drilling in general, despite his background. He fought against offshore rigs in the Gulf of Mexico -- even those out of sight of land. It's not him, but I think that Bush in the running is an O.D. of the brand and may stir the listless RATS into real action. I do think that Rand Paul can win and maybe Ted Cruz. I don't think Huckabee has the fire in his belly to leave his cush job at FOX.
