The House Oversight Committee will vote to hold former IRS official Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress next Thursday.
Lerner, a key figure in the tea party targeting controversy that scarred the agency last year, has been under the threat of contempt for more than a month after she again invoked her Fifth Amendment right not to testify at a hearing.
Americans expect accountability and want Congress to do all it can to gather relevant evidence about what occurred and who was responsible so that this never happens again, said Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.). Ms. Lerners involvement in wrongdoing and refusal to meet her legal obligations has left the Committee with no alternative but to consider a contempt finding.

Ahh....why next week? Why not THIS week?
Put her in Guantanamo Bay until she answers every question fully.
Another charade with no teeth?
Smoke, mirrors, and feeeeeeeeeeel good Bullsh!t. Hang the whore for show and tell.
Big deal. Holder has been held in Contempt by this committee, and he’s still running around loose.
Why next week?
Because the EXEMPT do not care -— except when it is
about THEM, the EXEMPT.
Tax day is the subsequent week. If they want to pick a special day that would be one.
Don’t hold your breath.
I’ve been holding Holder in contempt since the clintoon administration
I agree. Throw the bossy bitch in jail for contempt.
Obama has her pardon on his desk, ready to sign.
Holder is not involved in this. Congress really does have the power to throw her in jail, but this is rarely, rarely done.
“Obama has her pardon on his desk, ready to sign.”
If Congress actually did this, that pardon would be worth less than the person who signed it. It involves the separation of powers.
“Big deal. Holder has been held in Contempt by this committee, and hes still running around loose.”
Even if they wanted to, I’m not certain that they can do this, due to the separation of powers.
For the same reason, no police can touch a congressperson who breaks the law while on official congressional business (possibly unless they are impeached and convicted by Congress itself). What happens AFTER that, another story, and it might get tricky.
“I agree. Throw the bossy bitch in jail for contempt.”
IANAL (I am not a lawyer), but I THINK that they can do this even with the separation of powers (IRS being part of the Executive Branch), because she is not a political appointee hired directly by the present Administration).
She should be in jail.
