"But the war to be waged with the West is not with rockets. It is a cultural, social, moral war where Russia's role, in Putin's words, is to "prevent movement backward and downward, into chaotic darkness and a return to a primitive state."
Would that be the "chaotic darkness" and "primitive state" of mankind, before the Light came into the world?
This writer was startled to read in the Jan-Feb. newsletter from the social conservative World Council of Families in Rockford, Ill., that, of the "ten best trends" in the world in 2013, number one was "Russia Emerges as Pro-Family Leader."
In 2013, the Kremlin imposed a ban on homosexual propaganda, a ban on abortion advertising, a ban on abortions after 12 weeks and a ban on sacrilegious insults to religious believers.
"While the other super-powers march to a pagan world-view," writes WCF's Allan Carlson, "Russia is defending Judeo-Christian values. During the Soviet era, Western communists flocked to Moscow. This year, World Congress of Families VII will be held in Moscow, Sept. 10-12."
Will Vladimir Putin give the keynote?
In the new ideological Cold War, whose side is God on now?

Look to Jesus to see how God shows his love for you.
If this was true, then why is it that our "protection" of other nations always seems to involve the homosexualization of these nations and the establishment of a beach head for Planned Parenthood inside their governments?
Didn’t Lincoln say something like that?
Papanew, I don’t argue with anything you’ve said. But just as Joshua told the Israelites to choose whom they would serve, and as he stated that he and his house would serve the Lord, we all have a choice to make.
Agree with you both. I think God has turned the country over to its sin.
Abraham Lincoln
Beware false prophets.
I’m with you. Nevertheless, (Mark) 9:38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. 9:39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. (9:40) “He that is not against us is on our part.” Etc.
Surely, it’s not a bad thing that Putin’s “embracing Christianity” for any old reason. Ben Franklin did the same thing: not remotely religious himself, he gave to all religious charities (other than Catholic) because religion made folks easier to govern (hear that line anywhere else?).
I refuse to believe that G-d and Hitler and Stalin were on the same side, unless you believe that HE wanted all the Jews to be exterminated.
Our influence, especially lately, is not always the best. But Bush’s deviation notwithstanding, America is not about conquering other nations. As the most powerful free country on earth, we have the duty IMO to stand as a sentinel for other free sovereign nations against aggressive tyrants. Buchanan doesn’t get that.
Yes, others have to choose. But our job is not to condemn, judge, or criticize but love sinners unconditionally as Jesus did having the same ministry of reconciliation to God as Paul (2 Cor 5:18). We can ONLY do this by His grace - of ourselves, we could never do this.
Exactly!
My FRiend, God doesn’t condone sin, never has, never will. But his holy wrath and judgment of Hitler’s, Stalin’s, and everyone else’s heinous acts were satisfied on the body of Jesus 2000 years ago. Because the One who didn’t deserve death was condemned, those who utterly deserve death (all of us) are the objects of God’s mercy and love. He hates the sin but loves the sinner.
I don't mean "conquer" in a traditional military sense, but it's a conquest all the same. Our whole focus in those places is to eradicate their religious and cultural values and turn them into consumers of everything the big-government globalists are looking to sell them.
The problem is that this isn't the post-WW2 era anymore ... and there's a huge difference between selling them bread and machinery, and selling them fast food and Hollywood sh!t.
Agreed. No need to debate the matter further.
He’s on my side.
Three times in my life someone has tried to kill me.
I’m still, through the grace of God .
I assume for his amusement and as an example to others “what one shouldn’t be or become”....
/S
Thnx God, for sending us your son, our savior, to cleanse our sins and give us a just and upright example to aspire to.
I forget where I heard this...
“Fair is what God gets” or was it “Fair is what God wants”
I like the first.
"Others"? We all have to choose. Every one of us.
" But our job is not to condemn, judge, or criticize but love sinners unconditionally as Jesus did having the same ministry of reconciliation to God as Paul (2 Cor 5:18). We can ONLY do this by His grace - of ourselves, we could never do this."
I don't know what all of that has to do with the subject, but we are to love sinners yet be intolerant of sin. I'm not sure where you get the idea we aren't to judge or criticize. There are several Scriptures which tell us TO judge, and in fact the most misused passage people use to make that claim isn't telling us to refrain from judging, but how TO judge.
This concept that Christians are to go around too mealy-mouthed to utter a word of criticism is a recent one, and I don't subscribe to it. Christ did it...Paul did it.
Thank you
The point I'm making is Buchanan's argument seems to be partly based on God judging or being mad at America for her sins. What God wants is to bring America back to himself, and that doesn't preclude our standing up for the "little guy" so to speak, in this case the Ukraine. I've watched Buchanan on "The McLaughlin Group" defend Putin's actions and I think his reasoning is flawed because of his presumption against our international involvements.
Judging is one thing, condemning is another. Judging actions are one thing, judging people is another. The Bible says Jesus is our wisdom. He knows how to judge rightly and to the degree we live in His grace and wisdom, we will too. But a lot of Christians, especially those who don't understand the New Testament of God's grace, are angry people who go around condemning others becasue, truth be known, they still feel condemned themselves. That is weakness, not power
We can judge actions and statements, like I have here with Buchanan. But refraining from judging or condemning others is not "mealy mouthed", it is the grace of God, the very gospel which is the power of God to salvation. God's power is in his grace, not in man's judgments and condemnation of others.
