Toyota is recalling more than 6.5milllion cars -including 35,000 in the UK - after it discovered a number of faults.
The car manufacturer found in some models airbags can deactivate, seats may move and steering columns could break, the company said today.
The models involved are the RAV4, Hilux, Yaris and the Urban Cruiser.

Are there any vehicles that don’t get recalled?
What on earth? Were they trying to cut cost by ditching their QA/QC staff?
These aren’t minor issues. I fail to see how a single car like this made it off the assembly line.
OMG! Are these people really that inept at work, again?
In the past decade or two I have found so many of the younger workers lazy, incompetent, and unable to perform the simplest tasks efficiently. Even cashiers, who can’t add and subtract well, without the computer telling them how much to return to the customer.
More idiocy, for example:
I had a flood/sewer back up in two baths recently in a condo I owned, so I had no control over the restoration company hired, it was the property management for the Association who handled that. We are now on our 56th day to repair two bathrooms! Some companies or individuals could have built a whole house in that time, and don’t get me started on the mistakes, errors, throwing away of items that could have been used....surreal.
So am I surprised by a Toyota recall? NO! They have been in the recall business of dangerous cars several years back now. Many deaths occurred with the brakes and gas pedal issue, something to do with sticking pedals.
I am somewhat surprised by the Ford recall...and then there is the GM (gov’t motors)boondoggle. I saw that Mazda has a recall now as well.
I guess I should not be surprised at anything anymore.....so who do we blame?
Their parents for not teaching them how to work? The school system that made them entitlement minded? or the government that expects nothing from them, gives nothing back to our country but gives our hard earned dollars to those who don’t work for it overseas, or people like Obama, who set a bad example as role models? Hollywood? Video Games? The list is endless. We could blame the employee but then we would have to pay for their counseling for hurt feelings.
These are POSSIBILITIES, most under extreme conditions and it appears most would be detected prior to causing a crash.
a weld connecting the steering column bracket to the instrument panel might break when the steering wheel is repeatedly turned with full force, which could cause the steering column to tilt out of position. Drivers would not lose control of their vehicle.
a spring mechanism locking the driver and, in three-door cars, the front passenger seats in position on the adjustment rails may be under-strength and could break if seats are frequently moved back and forwards.
a risk that the driver's airbag may be deactivated because turning the steering wheel could damage certain circuits, causing the airbag warning light on the instrument panel to illuminate.
NOTHING in life is perfect, no matter how much is spent on it or how many QA/QC inspectors.
Some potential defects make it out the door. When a company learns of one, the issue a recall to inspect and replace/repair if necessary.

Hate to refer to the olden days but there was a time when it was not necessary to ever or rarely ever recall a vehicle. But cars did not have steering wheels that tilted, air bags, computer controlled anything, seat position was controlled by a hand operated lever on the front of the seat, gas caps opened by hand, there was no cruise control, windows were rolled up and down, doors were locked with a push button, etc. In short, everything was manually controlled.
IMO, the more we try to electronically control a vehicle and the more whistles and bells we put on a car, the more problems we are going to encounter. Perfect example of what happens when the government and politicians get involved.
