House Conservatives Plot to Oust Boehner, Put Scare Into Cantor

Several dozen frustrated House conservatives are scheming to infiltrate the GOP leadership next year—possibly by forcing Speaker John Boehner to step aside immediately after November's midterm elections.

The conservatives' exasperation with leadership is well known. And now, in discreet dinners at the Capitol Hill Club and in winding, hypothetical-laced email chains, they're trying to figure out what to do about it. Some say it's enough to coalesce behind—and start whipping votes for—a single conservative leadership candidate. Others want to cut a deal with Majority Leader Eric Cantor: We'll back you for speaker if you promise to bring aboard a conservative lieutenant.

But there's a more audacious option on the table, according to conservatives involved in the deliberations. They say between 40 and 50 members have already committed verbally to electing a new speaker. If those numbers hold, organizers say, they could force Boehner to step aside as speaker in late November, when the incoming GOP conference meets for the first time, by showing him that he won't have the votes to be reelected in January.

The masterminds of this mutiny are trying to stay in the shadows for as long as possible to avoid putting a target on their backs. But one Republican said the "nucleus"of the rebellion can be found inside the House Liberty Caucus, of which he and his comrades are members. This is not surprising, considering that some of the key players in that group—Justin Amash of Michigan, Raul Labrador of Idaho, and Thomas Massie of Kentucky—were among the 12 Republicans who refused to back Boehner's reelection in January 2012.

That's the only way to keep the lame-duck slime-balls from passing amnesty.

I’m sure Boehner is a great guy for a round of golf and a couple whiskeys at the country club afterwards. He was a very successful salesman for industrial products.

But he’s ill equipped to deal with mob trained Democrats like Pelosi and Reid.

Yea yea yea
Every few months “they” plot to over throw Jihnny Boy and nothing ever comes if it.
The GOP are just talk no action.
It’s like a guy sitting on the edge of the bed telling you how good “it’s” going to be, and you fall asleep waiting for “it”.

Plus he can give you a tip on the best tanning salons in town. He and charlie (which way should I go) christ in FL must get special discounts. Time to find somebody in the House that has the gonadal fortitude to stand up to these fascist asshats.

Now, they say, they might try to force Boehner out and also demand that Cantor bring on a conservative deputy before agreeing to vote for him as speaker.

no, no, no! get rid of both of them... and Cantor's friend McCarthy too!!! do the right thing, not the political thing--for once!

Obama and the ‘black hand gang’ have allegedly read all their emails ...great way to force balling crybaby Boehner to pass illegal immigration bill...by the way the employment numbers don’t take into account both population growth NOR ILLEGAL ALIENS

Cantor is left of Boehner. It will be a mistake of kicking Boehner to put Cantor in charge. They both need to go

Won’t matter if Cantor and Bonehead goes. America is in the communists toilet anyway and I can see no way out. Watch out the threats from the DOJ headed by Holder. America is finished without civil war.

A very interesting trivia bit is that the Speaker of the House does not actually have to be a member of the House.

So when there is a vote for speaker, the conservatives might pull a fast one by forwarding a candidate with conservative values and high credibility, who is well liked by the entire caucus.

Who that might be I have no clue.

Q. How do you put a scare into a Cantor?

A. Tell the organist to open with a few bars of
“Inna Gadda DaVida”.

Showing they have learned nothing from the Presidential election process. No. It's time to drive the bus or it's time to get off. Conservatives lead the caucus. Now.

House Republican "leadership" must go, root and branch. They have been, as the book of Daniel says "been weighed in the balance, and found wanting."

They were going to deseat Boehner in January 2013, but some lost their backbones.

For the 2015 session, probably more bluster than action.

Boehner has hinted that he would not seek the speakership. Ryan and Cantor have hinted they want it. Like peas in a pod, none of them is more preferrable than the other.

==

Will the Tea Party faction have a backbone?

Don’t count on it until we see a ‘conservative’ speaker.
