Federal workers watch 'Star Trek' on clock

Exploring new frontiers in time and attendance fraud, a group of federal employees and contractors spent one day last summer at a local restaurant followed by an afternoon watching the latest “Star Trek” movie — all at taxpayers’ expense.

The afternoon was all on government time. But once they learned they were being investigated, the employees went back and changed their attendance records to take personal leave.
Overall, about $3,500 reflecting the cost of staff time for lunch and the movie was returned to the government.
NOAA spokesman John Leslie said the agency holds “employees and contractors to the highest ethical standards.”

Okay...I get your point.
I know that in the civilian world, the occasional party or fun activity does indeed enhance the workplace atmosphere. I can think of many a time the company I used to work for did fun or considerate things for us like getting pizza for the office staff during busy times, field trips, and department parties.
I guess I over-reacted. It’s just that when you hear of excessive waste of our tax dollars, combined with the governmental ineptitude we here at FR hear about over and over, it colors one’s vision of government workers.
And yes...it wouldn’t have been quite so bad if they hadn’t lied about it.

That would be Beth Toussaint. I remember her from the late ‘80s/early ‘90s (such as when she was on “Dallas”). She was stunning.

She played “Ishara Yar” sister of deceased character “Tasha Yar” (Denise Crosby) in that one episode. Data could have hit that, if he were interested.
Looks like she’s done nothing but TV guest spots. She was also on “Dallas” as some skank Bobby Ewing hooked up with. Since she was in Texas I assume Bender ABed her.
