More young women choosing dogs over motherhood

America’s next generation of youngsters should be called “Generation Rex.” If you’re wondering why playgrounds around the city are so quiet and dog runs are packed, a new report has an answer: More and more US women are forgoing motherhood and getting their maternal kicks by owning handbag-size canines.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that a big drop in the number of babies born to women ages 15 to 29 corresponds with a huge increase in the number of tiny pooches owned by young US women, reports the business-news site Quartz.

Dog-crazy New York ladies told The Post that they aren’t surprised by the findings — and that they happily gave up diaper changes, temper tantrums and college funds for the easy affection of their doggy “child.”

“I’d rather have a dog over a kid,” declared Sara Foster, 30, a Chelsea equities trader who says her French bulldog, Maddie, brings her more joy than a child.

“It’s just less work and, honestly, I have more time to go out. You ;. don’t have to get a baby sitter.” The federal data behind the report show that over the past seven years, the number of live births per 1,000 women between ages 15 and 29 in America has plunged 9 percent.

I chose my share of dogs in college but I was only young and frequently inebriated.

Anti-worker, anti-middle class policies that too many conservatives have promoted over the years are making family formation unaffordable for the younger generation.

Responsible people will not have children on $8 hour part time with no benefits or job security.

Key term, "Responsible People".

Thankfully, this person hasn't had kids. The kids deserve better.

Probably the dog does too. :-)

I know of 3 younger couples and one young single person that all have dogs, and I noticed how they seem to have a role in these people’s lives that children would normally play. Two of the couples even go so far as to refer to their pets as “the kids”, or something to that effect.

What's especially creepy is many of these childless dog owners give their dogs "people" names like Steve, Jack, etc. Gone are the days of Rex, Spot, Rover, etc....Dogs & People have the same names

So much so that it is sometimes hard to tell if they are talking about a dog or a person

We are witnessing the relative end of the Anglo-Saxon people first hand.

I can't think of any other race in history that after producing so much, just decided to commit suicide.

I am simply astonished at the level of selfishness.

People don't want to get married or be committed because this way they can go hook up anytime they're in heat.

They don't want children because it interferes with their pursuit of satisfying themselves.

There is little interest in self-sacrifice. It is all hedonism all the time. It's all about me!

Don't publicly whine when you're all alone at 55 with your shacked-up temporary “partner” and now facing your own mortality.

My kids clobber me with big hugs every day at 5, when I get home.

I live for that. I don't care how great the dog is, it's a poor substitute.

And as for the 1am, 2am, 3:30am feedings....nightmares....sicknesses.....whatevers? Who cares. Anything worth having is worth working for. Frankly, I didn't mind the late nights all that much. Gave me a chance to visit with the kids, since I worked all day.

Democrats have reduced the purposes of men and have either neutered or made men unnecessary. Despite this supposed "War on Women," plenty of females have good jobs and in many cases have it much better than their male counterparts. Even in the age of women who "experiment" with both genders, men are seen as a part time relationship and not needed as a member of a permanent and traditional family role mode. Democrats and liberals are the primary cause of the destruction of the family unit and when people openly tout the murder of babies as a "choice," what man would respect that stance and desire to have a longstanding relationship with that person?

Back when I was searching the personal ads, I noticed (1) how many single women owned dogs and (2) how central those dogs seemed to be in their lives. To me, that was always a red flag, especially since I’m not that fond of dogs in the first place.

I was watching one of those house hunting shows on HGTV the other day, and when they introduced the couple, blah blah ...and Mary recently quit her job to be a stay at home mommy to their two rescue pugs....

For reals. LMAO.

The youth of the Japanese have gotten very odd in the past decade or so, more specifically the males. They appear to have no interest in sex with actual females at all, and little interest in general. So, for different reasons, they're probably ahead of us on the demographic decline.

My daughter fits the profile. And it ain’t always about selfishness. The last time someone asked her about kids she replied “Do you really think I should bring a child into this world considering how screwed up it is?”

Can’t say as I disagree.

Yeah...that's creepy. I've got a relative who couldn't have kids (not everyone makes this a conscious choice, biology sometimes makes the decision for them) and she does that with her pets. It's a little sad. And creepy.

But as for the young people who are making the decision to replace kids with pets named "Marc" and "Julie"? Wierd. Wierder still, to get a Christmas Card from them, with their pet's name on it (me to wife: "Who is Marc? Did The Joneses adopt?").

The most wierd? When they send pictures of their pets "Bob" and "Staci" out AS their Christmas cards.

I weep for my generation.
