In the days after the slaughter, the news coverage read like a satirical novel that the author's not quite deft enough to pull off, with bizarre new Catch-22s multiplying like the windmills of your mind: If you muse openly on pouring boiling oil down the throats of infidels, then the Pentagon will put that down as mere confirmation of your long-established "research interests". If you're psychotic, the Army will make you a psychiatrist for fear of provoking you. If you gun down a bunch of people, within an hour the FBI will state clearly that we can all relax, there's no terrorism angle, because, in a micro-regulated credential-obsessed society, it doesn't count unless you're found to be carrying Permit #57982BQ3a from the relevant State Board of Jihadist Licensing.

Could someone who shouts “Allahu ackbar!” in a public place be charged the same as somebody who yells “fire!” in a crowded theater?
Even if the dreaded phrase was yelled at a “religious” event, the sound of it still strikes fear in people’s hearts. (And no, I don’t believe Islam is a real religion.) Just yelling it out loud should be a criminal act, akin to inciting a panic.
Just thinking out loud here.
Sums it up:
“It is striking to me that a country responsible for over 40 per cent of the planet’s military spending apparently has no money to treat its returning warriors with a modicum of dignity. That it should do the same to men and women gunned down by a traitor who set off every alarm bell and was still allowed to proceed to that table at Fort Hood is an absolute disgrace.”
I think a theatre is much safer now. But if I heard anybody yell to Allahu, I would go into fight/save mode immediately.
9/11 was caused by islamists. The US elects an islamist president. It’s not rocket science why everything is falling apart.
It really is putting salt in the wound with Obama going around chirping about how he rescued millions of people by giving them insurance.
Look at how his administration handles the health care of these victims at Ft. Hood.
People really want this man doling out health care to them?

Just a thought...we really need different people making/confirming ALL these agency appointments, not to mention managing promotions in the military (I think?!)!
AS you say, regulations have made it pretty near impossible for a serious fire to occur in a theater.
Nightclubs and such are a whole different matter, of course.
