Regulations -
cost to the grid in MW?
cost in jobs?
cost to the economy?

what is the measurable benefit?
The title should be, “Casualty of Hope and Change”.
This pleases the evil WH invader.
what is the measurable benefit?
That’s easy! Something on the order of double the price for electricity. Coal is by far the cheapest fuel for electricity, other than perhaps, hydro.
Coal fired power plants are closing years earlier than necessary because of EPA rules and no other reason. Ordinary closures, or plant obsolesence is probably also due to EPA mandates.
So, how long before the mandates take us into uncharted territory? I’m thinking we are already there. How much easier to control the masses when all they can think about is how to stay warm or cool depending on where you live. No time for mischief ala Bundy Ranch.
But really if that is part of the plan, someone has seriously misjudged the American People, ala Bundy Ranch. Watch the moves of your local power companies, they are being herded and their futures are in the incapable hands of washington bureaucrats.
Are you talking about keeping a power plant online despite the EPA, and protect it with militia?
Another example of the libs moving the goal post until it can’t be reached.
BTW, thanks for acknowledging that electric cars are coal burners.
Almost all of the new plants are gas fired due to nat gas being ~$4.50/mmbtu. Unless that doubles there won’t be anything but gas fired.
I'm trying to remember if steel mills past actually shut down and came back under employee governance, or if they were salvaged from shut down by employee governance/ownership
damned drugs fried my memory cells
Just so the consumers, who will be freezing in the dark, will realize that the ObamaDidn’tCare green energy program is to blame for their misery.
Are you talking about keeping a power plant online despite the EPA
YES!!!
We are going to wish that was the case, unless something in washington changes.
Frankly, in the case of power plants, it won’t take a militia, that would really put the American people at risk. What needs to happen is governors, legislatures and power providers need to come together under the banner of State Government and push back to the max. No plant closures without the express approval of the elected officials in that state. Better to put the Governor and the legislature on the hot seat, than sit around and blame the EPA.
I would say most power producers have somewhere in their offices, the chart of the time line of implementation of the various rules and regulations in regards to power production. The chart is called the train wreck, and yet they are making every effort to comply. I would ask why, and yes the Bundy Ranch would be a reason, and being taken to court would be another, but down the line, the bowing and scraping to the new King George has got to stop or we can chuck our efforts to remain a Republic.
Something is not right when power plants are force to close years early, because an unelected bureaucrat sends out a directive, or regulation that says so. Reality, says a whole lot more that isn’t being heard, except for the screams of the gouged society, that are drowned out by the happy shouts of the radical environmental midgets, responsible for the movement in the first place. The midgets might be what three percent of the populace enjoying the doubling of their electricity bills.
And how many coal plants does China bring on line each month?
Sooner or later we’re gonna have to tell the EPA to shove it up their collective smelly Obamaholes...and have the resolve to make them afraid enough to do it.
We should not rest until most unemployed have good jobs and EVERY EPA member is on the dole...living in cardboard boxes. and fearing for their lives.
Obama’s war on America’s citizens. November, let’s start a war on Obama by electing Conservatives.
Agreed. It’s a liberal president’s EPA who makes these rules as they go along, and who are deciding that these plants have to close. It’s arbitrary.
It’s because they worship at th altar of mother earth and enviro extremism. Liberal theology says that coal is bad, so , because of their blind faith that coal is bad, the plants must close.
Yes this is all about Agenda 21. The plan is to make electricity so expensive and unavailable you will be at some point allotted so many KW’s per month. Via your Smart meter when you use those KW’s no more power for you til the first of the month.
But I predict that what will really happen is rolling blackouts and eventually the grid will go down from the pressure or someone will put it down.
Everyone should be trying to look into some kind of alternative power source if you can afford it.
Coal plant would have a good IR signature.
