Charlie, Charlie, Charlie. Well of course they should be arrested. Who know when they might go down in to the cargo hold during the flight and retrieve their weapon and kill all the passengers. Just having the firearm in close proximity is liable to set any one of those nut case gun owners off.

“Well, sure it made sense to have an armed population back when the people only had muskets,”

I’ll buy that when they buy the argument “Well, sure it made sense to have a free press back when the press only had pens and manual printers and not the internet, TV, radio and other media.”

(This is a post I cobbled together back around 2003 or so but it is even more pertinent as the government breaks out of the chains the Founders fashioned for it. The TSA is simply one of the more visible and obnoxious of fedzillla’s diseased appendages.)
I hate to sound like a broken record (or a CD for you kiddies who don’t remember them – or the God-given freedoms all those folks died to try to preserve for you) but here I go again!
The TSA began hijacking our freedoms the day they started the “security” crap at the airports many years ago. Some of us bi**hed about it then but didn’t get much response. Fedzilla was conditioning us to accept more and more restrictions on our freedoms from day one. Looks like it’s working, doesn’t it?
But, of course, say you, didn’t their system of NOT PROFILING do a splendid job by keeping those 19 muzzies off planes on 9-11? Goodness, if they hadn’t been stopped, they might have killed over 3,000 people, knocked down buildings and...
Oh, never mind.
(In the post 9-11 world, anyone stupid enough to try to take over a commercial flight would be beaten to death by the passengers who realize that’s to be preferred to hitting the Capitol at 600 MPH.)
It begs a question of anyone who has a real-world grip on how governments — ALL governments — operate:
“Did anyone really think the situation would get better for the traveling public?”
Having said that, this airport “training” of the public is essential to the success of Obozo’s planned National Defense Corps (or is that “corpse?”) street patrols. Can you say “You VILL show me your papers” in ebonics?
“Necessity is the plea of every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.” (William Pitt, 1759 1806)

FOLLOW UP POST: TRIP TO NEW ENGLAND
In mid-2002, my wife and I flew to a family wedding in New England and changed planes in Philly.
With a 1 hour layover, we went to get a bite to eat at a joint in the then “sterile concourse.” Our departing flight was in the same concourse.
Imagine my surprise when the meal came with one of those sturdy, white plastic knives with a serrated edge I pocketed and took on the departing flight. I later literally butchered a salami to prove that the knife was, in fact, a potentially lethal weapon.

Cutting (pun intended) to the chase, after 9-11, the next gang of morons who attempt to charge the flight deck of a commercial aircraft would be beaten to death by passengers who understand that if the flight was taken over, they would be dead anyway. They’d have nothing to lose.
If the TSA wants to keep planes from coming down, they should devote their efforts to PROFILING (just as the Israelis do) and inspecting the AIR CARGO in the belly of the plane, only 5% or so is inspected now. That’s probably how it’ll happen next time.
PS: For those really interested in the truth about how this Keystone Cops TSA operation FAILS TO PROTECT US, check out “Please Remove Your Shoes” available on NETFLIX and elsewhere. This troubling documentary examines the Transportation Security Administration’s role as protector of the American skies, raising questions about the disturbing gap between the federal agency’s avowed purpose and actual airport safety since 9/11.

Maybe we should use the Jeb Bush defense. Travelling with a firearm while illegal in New York and New Jersey is really an act of love.

LOL

“armed population back when the people only had muskets”

soory but my ancestors had a couple of cannons and some blunderbusses as both were legal by right then and still are.

Both are assault weapons.

The blunderbuss could wipe out a whole room full of people.

My neighbor on the next mountain over yonder up 3,000 feet has 2 brass cannon in her front yard that she dug up across the street.

My neighbor at the bottom of the hill here has two Revolutionary War iron cannons mounted in his front yard since 1902.

It`s normal here.

But now that four-year-old children can buy semi-automatic nuclear death-rays with their Happy Meals, it’s just anachronistic.

Not true. You have to be at least six to buy a semi-automatic nuclear death-ray. Dad made me mow lawns for mine.

Confiscated and destroyed?

In a pig’s eye. I figure some politico and or high ranking cop has obtained a pretty nice collection of high end weaponry.

I was visiting St. Louis recently and while trying to get through the downtown construction to visit the Arch I made a wrong turn and wound up on the Eads bridge headed to Illinois. I was legally armed -- in Missouri. I was an instant criminal in Illinois; but not for long. At the first turn around spot I hightailed it back to the "sane state."

Even though I would relish a Saturday afternoon performance at the Metropolitan Opera, New York and New Jersey will prolly never get a moment of my presence.

(Would I trust this federal law to protect me? Depends what you mean by protect. After I've shelled out thousands of dollars to lawyers and bail bondsmen I'm sure it wouldn't feel like protection.)

What kind of nut wouldn't want cannon in their front yard? I love going to St Augustine, FL just because there are so many cannon out there that they use them for fence posts.

Remember the kid who was suspended for biting his Pop-Tart into the imagined shape of a gun?

What if....what if....the kid had gnawed his Pop-Tart into the shape of....a CROSS!!!!?

And then HELD IT UP HIGH!!!!???

(Don’t even speculate on what his punishment might have been)

That probably why one can only get a dozen peanuts on a flight now.

Heck, fly First Class and they BRING a STEEL knife (and steel fork) with your meal.

evidently Someone has not visited the northeast mountains yet where battles took place and are never forgotten-

The right to bear arms means the right to have a cannon on your front lawn to remind everyone from whence we came and still are vigilant against tyranny.

Of course I’ve visited the Northeast mountains-—I’ve lived in MA my entire long life. I’ve visited all of the forts and have been to Concord and Lexington many times, both with children and grandchildren.

I would no more want a cannon in my front yard than I would want a tank.

The Constitution itself specifically allows for the federal government to contract with individual citizens to aggressively use their own privately-owned battleships...
Letters of Marque and Reprisal, primarily aimed at Muslim pirates in the Mediterranean. Article I, Section 8, Clause 11.

So by the "logic" of the Left, private ownership of battleships is okay! Where do I line up for the auction of the USS Iowa?

After 30 years of traveling in sales, if I ever see the inside of another airplane, it will be too soon.
