Winter's Coming. And, Boy How We're Going to Wish We Still Had That Luxury Global Warming 'Problem'!
Breitbart's London ^ | April 20, 2014 | James Delingpole

Posted on 04/20/2014 4:12:39 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Of all the many absurdities of the great climate change non-crisis which has been pointlessly obsessing our planet this last three or four decades, surely the most egregious is the way it has ignored one basic fact: global warming is good. No really, it is. As a few bold heretics - such as Australian geologist Ian Plimer in his book Heaven And Earth - have long been trying to tell anyone prepared to listen, the human species is designed for warmth not cold. Ice ages are something we should naturally fear; warming periods are something which for which we should yearn. All the historical evidence confirms this - that periods of warming (such as the Minoan, Roman and Medieval Warming Periods) have spurred cultural efflorescence and economic growth, while cooling periods have tended towards pestilence, famine, misery and stagnation. When you think about it, it's pretty obvious: in warmer times it's easier to grow crops, which means that a) fewer people starve and b) instead of struggling to survive, people have time to get on with developing art, literature, trade, civilisation generally...

Now for the bad news. During the last 50 or so years, we have lived through perhaps the most beneficent warming periods the world has known. Now the good times are over. And just round the corner - climatically speaking at any rate - are some very bad times indeed.

How do we know this? Because as author David Archibald argues in perhaps the most depressing but enlightening book you'll read this year - Twilight Of Abundance (Regnery) - we have the evidence of Solar Cycles.

However, when the world warmed, this feature, it was theorized, could have resulted in Neanderthals having perpetual and debilitating sinus infections. And might have possibly led to their extinction.

Interesting... curious what is known about this.

Have you seen the movie "Ao, the last Neanderthal"? This somewhat cave-man meets cave-girl love story for the most part adheres to facts known about that time 30,000 years ago. One aspect it showed was a prevalent condition affecting Ao's dad and Ao as well with the symptom of bloody nose and mucus passageways. I was wondering if there was something backing this part of the story... your post indicates that there was.

What kind of technology offset 4,000 meters of ice in Chicago?

We still have that technology, and it is called the human foot.

The ice did not suddenly appear, it got colder and colder every year for quite a while and people moved south, over the course of many years.

Today we would do it differently. In addition to Obama phones, the government will start passing out Obama SUVs. While this might raise CO2 levels, we will discover what real scientists have been saying for decades. CO2 has about the same effect as passing gas in a tornado. But, since the Obama SUVs, will bankrupt the nation, we will all freeze together--achieving income equality as we die.

The only thing guaranteed in Neanderthal research is that every theory has a dozen angry, bitter rebuttal theories, every one of which creates acrimony between researches.

Seriously, they are one of the most contentious groups of scientists out there. And they take it all with deadly seriousness, *precisely* because it is so trivial.

We’ve been in an ice age for about 3 million years. We are currently enjoying an inter-glacial period.

Human beings, in the form of homo erectus, appeared about 2 million years ago.

I still prefer warming compared to what’s going to happen in the next glacial period.

In fact, historically after the Roman Empire fell, Europe thrived surprisingly well because it was in many ways warmer up to the 1300's than now. But once the cold returned (plus the arrival of bubonic plague), Europe went into a steep decline that it didn't recover from until the 17th Century--and then Europe went into another very cold period when sunspot output dropped to zero--the famous Maunder Minimum between 1645 and 1715.

Yes, and those were minor drops in temperature, compared to the ones that almost killed off humans more than once.

I notice that myself. Of course we simply have to point out that the climate has always been changing and that man has not yet had a significant impact.

TIME ran covers titled "The Big Freeze" on December 3, 1973 and January 31, 1977. (I would post the covers but I'm not sure on FR's linking policy for TIME's website.) More 1970s global cooling media coverage is archived at 1970s Global Cooling Alarmism.

If it takes Hell freezing over to shut up the warming kooks and their media puppets, so be it.

They will sit there freezing to death and stay on the 'Party Line' if that is what their marching orders are.

By definition, they are not people who think for themselves. They only think what the puppet masters allow them to think.

That confidence game can be played to a certain extent, but as P. T. Barnum famously observed, it’s not possible to always fool everybody.

What’s to offset? Chicago under 4,000 meters of ice would be a net plus to the rest of the country...

They don't even give a damn if they don't fool all of us. They just need to fool enough to keep their scam running.

So far, they are doing it.

At some point they won’t even be able to fool enough. Their pride will blind them to that point. We think they are coldly calculating. They aren’t; they are blind with rage.
