GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI – A Traverse City man is accused of trying to strangle his girlfriend because she did not like him going to strip clubs, authorities said Thursday, April 24.
Sean Jones, 30, has been charged with attempted murder and assault by strangulation, Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Bob Cooney said.
"The allegation is that he was strangling her in an attempt to kill her,” Cooney told The Grand Rapids Press/MLive.com.
He said that Jones allegedly tried to kill her because of “her not wanting him to go to strip clubs.”
Cooney said it was unclear what club Jones allegedly frequented, but he said there are no strip clubs in Grand Traverse County.

Yes we have one of the most expensive townships in northern Michigan.
Last I knew there was Fantasies strip bar and Crossroads strip bar. Crossroads is not in Grand Traverse but Fantasies is.
Guess I am not up on my stripper clubs. I have to ask my wife.
Madonna’s father owns a vineyard in the Traverse City area.
In traveling through Grand Traverse County, I thought that there was a lot of money there, but that it was mostly seasonal residents who lived elsewhere and flew their G550’s in there for the weekend at their summer homes. It didn’t strike me as a “year round” town.

The only memory I have of Traverse City is about eight years ago the wife and I while on vacation stayed there one night. We were eating at a Bob Evans restaurant when some guy brought his elderly mother in for lunch. It might have been Mother’s Day. The old biddy loudly complained about everything...the food, the restaurant, the people in the restaurant, and life in general. I maybe wouldn’t have wanted her strangled, but if someone had stuck a large wad of napkins in her mouth, that would have been just fine.
