Tea party eats its own in Oklahoma (laughable article)

Down here in the buckle of the Bible Belt, conservatives might eat one of their own.

Tea party celebrities Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee descended here on Thursday night to anoint their candidate to replace retiring Republican Sen. Tom Coburn: Republican former state House Speaker T.W. Shannon.

By embracing Shannon, they are leaving behind Rep. James Lankford, the fifth-highest-ranking member of the House GOP leadership, who is also bidding for the last two years of Coburn’s term. Lankford could be forgiven for thinking he had a shot at such prominent endorsements, since he rode the tea party wave of 2010 to a seat in the House. But the conservative glitterati think Shannon is a true believer and that Lankford has disappointed them by voting to raise the debt ceiling and joining Speaker John Boehner’s team.

It’s a new strand of Republican civil war: not the typical insurgent-versus-establishment story in the Sooner State, but a battle on the right for the deepest conservative bona fides. And if Shannon pulls off an upset over Lankford, it would send a message to Republicans: Watch out, the tea party can still shake up a primary.

“These are our warriors in the United States Senate,” Palin said at a “Liberty Rally” for Shannon, pointing to Cruz and Lee. “We’ve got to send them some reinforcements. And Oklahoma’s contribution to that worthy effort is T.W. Shannon.”

"By embracing Shannon, they are leaving behind Rep. James Lankford, the fifth-highest-ranking member of the House GOP leadership"

You know what you get when a member of the "House GOP leadership" moves to the Senate?? This:

Blunt (MO) - - 59% (Average) - 57% (Heritage) - 67% (CFG) - 71% (ACU) - 41% (FreedomWorks)

They are so pissed that we've moved Shannon up and over their selected man. Because whichever republican wins the primary in Oklahoma...is the next US Senator from Oklahoma. A black conservative. Black republicans in the senate will outnumber black democrats in the senate 2-1!!

The Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi want to anoint Hillary Clinton. Whereas the Tea Party has no head like that.

They are scared to death that a republican wave will sweep in conservatives, so they are working like all hell to get moderates the nomination all across the country.

Anything that can disband, destroy, upset, corral, checkmate, sink, revolutionize or otherwise toss the "GOPe leadership" overboard sounds like a good idea to me.

I’ve always heard that Bob Jones University is the buckle on the Bible Belt.
(Not that I think BJU necessarily DESERVES that appellation).

So if I like Lankford and I like Shannon, I just like Shannon for Senate more than Lankford, I’m somehow anti-Lankford and eating my own.

Strange thinking.

Basically yeah. In their view it’s “our guy or else you’re a divisive anarchist!”

You are not allowed to be for someone other than the “preferred candidate.”

And this thinking certainly explains why they work to undermine and destroy when their preferred candidate is not selected by the people (O’Donnell, Mourdock, Murkowski, Cruz, Paul, Rubio, Lee, etc.)

I got interviewed by Politico at the Rally last night. It was all I could do not to make a snarky comment about the lamestreet media. But I didn’t. His questions were all about why I liked Shannon more than Lankford.

Palin and Cruz slammed the liberal media in their speeches and of course the crowd went wild. I am glad to know Politico was there to hear it!!
