Brian Alunan has nothing to show for the 150 applications he has submitted to Sacramento area employers over the last few months. No bites, no interviews, no job.
Alunan is 29, and lives with his parents. His work history is spotty. His unemployment benefits have ended. The bank is about to take his car.
If every generation is supposed to be better off financially than the one that proceeded it, Sacramento “millennials” have a lot of catching up to do.
Several experts said the economy is the primary culprit. Many millennials graduated from high school or college during the Great Recession and had trouble finding work. Others were just getting started as professionals and were the first laid off during the economic downturn.

I love young people. I like them even more when they quit supporting that thang in the WH and seek to correct their silly mistake.
Reading the story, I noticed that none of these young (and not-so-young) skulls of mush mentioned any plans to leave Kalifornia.
Hello? You’re living in a state with a high cost of living, high taxes and an unsustainable pension and social services system. Even if they find work in Cali, they will wind up paying higher taxes than their counterparts in other states.
Meanwhile, there is a chronic labor shortage in North Dakota, Texas and other locations where our energy resources are being being leveraged. Any of these young people interviewed for the story could complete a CDL course in six weeks or less, fly to North Dakota and get a truck-driving job within hours of arriving. Starting pay around $75,000 a year—even higher if you’re willing to work overtime.
Same thing for other jobs in the energy sector. Sean Hannity has interviewed the owners of several small and medium-sized energy services companies on his show. One company (based in Texas or North Dakota), has 200 vacancies. Most require training, but you can get it through the company or a local community college and if you go that latter route, the employer typically pays for it.
Yeah, winters in North Dakota suck and summers in the Permain Basin aren’t a picnic, either. But if these so-called adults were interested in actually getting work or starting a career, they’d be on the road to Texas or North Dakota. But of course, it’s so much easier to live in your parents’ basement and complain that you can’t find a job at Starbucks.
The embrace they need is a job and money. Where is that coming from?

If they’re not tied down with a house, they can certainly relocate very easily. They’d likely have a job in a day in a number of locales. Might be North Dakota but hey, you do what you’ve got to do.
They won’t be, because the GOP wants to jump to giving things to illegal aliens.
They're too busy yakking, texting and sexting on their "smart" phones to have a job, a house and kids. Standing in line waiting for the newest "smart" phone to come out takes up a lot of time. "Trophy" wives and husbands are out. "Trophy" phones are in. They want to make sure that they are the first in their "circle" to have one.

The point is they are avoiding work so moving to an area to get work would be counter-productive to their goals.
That’s why you toss them out of the house.
I moved back home and lived for a year after college but I had a job in my profession within a few months. I worked a FT job for no pay(sales) until I landed the paying gig.

Brian Alunan need to pick up some shifts bussing or waiting tables at Outback or selling shoes at Footlocker and get the F out of the house. Parents of the millennials are enabling all this. There may not be many resume enhancing job opportunities, but at least if you can get out and gain experience in managing responsibilities, you can get a leg up on the competition. This guy is less hirable than someone graduating in May. He hasn’t had a responsible regiment in at least 7 years. Jobs exist, they are just jobs that many millennials feel like they are “above”. I worked at Dillards for a year and at 7 Eleven for 2 years before I found a “real” job. Time to man up.
Moving to ND isn’t for everyone. If you live in Cali, going to a place that is almost the farthest you can get from the beach is a tough sell.

A lot of people are coming out of high school and college expecting to get a really nice job right out of the gate. ?I know somebody just like this who ran out of unemployment a long time ago, but is still holding out for a ‘good’ job.

Well, then, their complaint of no job has qualifiers. Keep the beach, the lifestyle and the climate and live in your car until you lose that too, or lose the beach, the lifestyle and the climate, get a job and a place of your own.
Their choice.
We hate the gullible that are destroying our nation with their votes.
And we have an “opposition” party unwilling to do the heavy lifting required to engage the Dems on a consistent basis with a unified message. The GOP is divided and ineffective. Just how the Dems like it.

We try to go after the “victim groups” as old white WASPS. We need to train our youth on outreach and get them out into the neighborhoods.

But at 150 resumes out (assuming that's factual) then "Brian" needs to stop thinking "Everyone hates me, what's wrong with all of them?", and start considering other avenues of work.
