BLACK LEADER (Alan Keyes) SAYS NEVADA RANCHER BUNDY'S REMARKS NOT RACIST-It's the Truth
Liberty News ^ | 24 Apr 14 | Bob Unruh

A prominent black leader is coming to the defense of embattled Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, who was pilloried on Thursday after the New York Times published a quote by him referencing slavery.

“He wasn’t talking so much about black folks, but about the harm and damage that the leftist socialism has done to blacks,” said former U.N. Ambassador Alan Keyes, who also is a columnist for WND.

Ammon Bundy, Cliven Bundy’s son, told WND that the quotes were taken out of context and that his father was commiserating over the poor situation in which blacks find themselves because of oppressive government programs, regulations and practices.

Keyes said that was evident.

“I find it appalling that we basically have a history of the leftist liberalism that wants to extinguish black people by abortion [and] destroying the family structure,” Keyes told WND. “All of these things if you just look at the effects, you would say this was planned by some racist madman to destroy the black community.”

Then when somebody comes along to comment on that damage, the leftists all scream “racism,” he said.

“I think it’s time somebody started to recognize the racism that exists in its effects – the hard leftist ideology using the black community for their sacrificial lamb, for their sick ideology. It’s time we called them what they are,” he said.

“Now it’s racist to point it out.”

All you do is scream liar when facts are thrown in your face. My involvement is simple. I am a conservative defending conservative positions.

Not needing an Oracle of Delphi to figure that out.

Keyes is exactly right and states it well with his usual precision.

We on the right need to get better at simply standing by the truth and not being cowed by the PC game. We should be fully willing to denounce actual racists but also willing to hold the line when one of our own speaks the truth in a way that doesn’t conform to PC rules. I actually think that Bundy has created an opening to insert some reality into the public conversation on race if we will simply man up and be willing to speak the truth. That’s a hard thing to do but it has to be done if we’re ever going to get ourselves out of the race rut. The left has ruined the golden opportunity that this country has had when it comes to race issues. They need to be held accountable for that. Doing so starts by having a backbone and being willing to simply stand up for what is true even when it’s uncomfortable.

Getting our supposedly own people to stop hiding like cowards would indeed be a good start. Look at every Bundy thread.

And people wonder why no good man will stand up and run with that behind him.

It’s a matter of will and not being scared. We can beat the left on the race issue but we can’t allow ourselves to be cowed. Standing up for the truth always takes work and is often uncomfortable but that’s what we have to do.

Totally agree. And if only a few of us will, the rest need to get out of the way and stop helping the liberals tie us up.

Please explain how his use of the slavery argument has furthered his cause?

IT DIDN’T!! It PREDICTABLY didn’t! It is a nebulous connection at best. Bundy was getting more and more support every day! All he needed to do was keep pounding the, “BLM came in with weapons and violence, took and killed my cattle and bullied and tazed my children” statement and he wins going away - and creates the momentum to probably put an end to all of this nonsense for awhile. This was probably the best chance we’ve seen of making major headway in this fight in decades - pfffft! gone!

If you don’t understand the strategic folly of what he did, then it might explain why you’ve been fighting so long. If you have fought the fight this long, I applaud your fight - but I am sick and tired of people injuring good causes by making stupid, unnecessary statements.

In any fight, you should ask the question - will this help the cause? And if the answer is uncertain, you should ask - will the possible good outweigh the potential bad? The answer to both questions regarding the moment in discussion was a resounding NO! There was OBVIOUSLY absolutely ZERO potential benefit from the statement - regardless of its truth.

Let me give you some advice: If you are talking about land and property rights, TALK ABOUT LAND AND PROPERTY RIGHTS! Never ever ever talk about those rights in the context slavery or government handouts or ANYTHING except property rights. What you say might be absolutely true, but it won’t further your cause one whit, and it has great potential to derail it!

Yeah - run off and fight the “race issue” and the “property rights issue” languishes.

I don’t want or need advice from someone who helps push lies. We established the race thing is related. To deny it is a lie.

That said, you are wasting your time trying to get me to see logic in your position where there is none. Category error yes, but no logic.

BTW, it predictably DID because now the issue is on the table. And more people are talking. You lose again.

In other words Bundy has made a tactical error but we should cover it with sheer willfulness. We should bury the left’s attempt to use Bundy’s words against us in an avalanche of sheer will. That’s how you win political arguments — by being unified and being strong. And of course it helps when you are correct, as we are.

Did you say I called Bundy a racist? Yes you did, and you lied. You have not shown ANY evidence that I ever called him a racist - because there is none. I have never said it, never even thought it...it is not an issue to me. My interest is in Bundy’s cause, not the man. My interest in the man is only inasmuch as he helps or hurts the cause - and he’s hurting the cause.

So - you lied about me. Either:
1) back your statement with proof
2) apologize for your lie
3) wear the mantel of liar

I personally do not see it as an error. Perhaps he didnt intend it as it turned out, but he was still correct regardless. And yup, we gotta back the play to the hilt.

Funny that so many people were sooooo very concerned about ‘winning’ just want to walk away now and find excuses for not winning this.

It’s not a “property right’s” issue.

It’s a “federal government has become a devouring all powerful tyranny in all areas and is making slaves of us all” issue.

LJ, this is one of the types we used to argue with on the gay issue. He’s fact free, proud of it and just wasting all our time.

Less of his type would be a good thing for the planet overall. But they do so love to push crap.

You are a fool.

More people are talking about race, NOT about the original issue. Diversion means Harry and the Whores win - and you rush right down the diversionary path.

No, it is not related except in the manner that “all things are related”. And that is nothing. If the average man doesn’t see the immediate connection, there is no true connection in this context.

AND - You have twisted and contorted to make the connection - Bundy never made it in his statement.

No, there is no connection. Regardless of your claim of one. We are not talking 6 degrees from Kevin Bacon here, we are talking strategic ties in a philosophical battle. There is none, you’re a fool for trying to make that argument. It doesn’t further the cause you purport to be championing, it harms it.

You idiot! I have never commented on the “good” or “bad” of the statement - ONLY the wisdom of foolishness of the statement in pursuing the fight at hand.

YOU are a lost cause - you are now more interested in the personality than the issue. Have fun.

Actually I’m the smartest man in any room I walk into! Been called a sage in fact!

So I will take those great truths over your drooling idiocy.

PS, that’s sarcasm. I feel I had to point that out because you seem to miss a lot of details and such. It is also mocking because I see no point in trying any longer to treat you with resembling respect. You want to ignore reality, be my guest.

Unless he is a double agent, Bundy is a simple man of the earth, a rancher, who sees things in terms of their results and not in terms of a hoard of words expended for a listening audience.

Because of that, I don’t see him as a racist (especially in light of the Watts and illegal Mexican statements). Hannity and other conservative talking heads feel obligated to do go along with the crowd, because they are afraid of a media feeding frenzy involvinging race. They’re probably right. Unless God intervenes, Bundy will not recover from the left’s racism label.

The result of big government in the lives of blacks in America is broken families, single motherhood, abortion, and gang wars. Those are the results that Bundy sees and tried to address in his halting, simple way. (Strangely that has been both O’Reilly’s and Hannity’s message about blacks since the Trayvon Martin media frenzy. Apparently they were Bundy’s ideological mates.)

The Fox media will be held accountable if the cyber-world can hang O’Reilly and Hannity with their own words. I believe, if memory serves correctly, that they have even wondered if big government is actually better for black families.

Force them to acknowledge that they have been in exactly the same philosophical place, and have said so on their broadcasts, and they will have some ‘splainin’ to do.

Your point is valid but also trivial. We’re never going to beat the left by playing according to their rules. We have to overturn the whole system. Yes we have to be smart and tactical but we also need to understand that it takes effort and courage to affect real change. If our approach can be undermined by one guy not saying the right PC platitudes, then our approach is doomed to fail. We have to be stronger than that. We need to be like a locomotive, not a chess game. That’s how the left wins its battles. We should be willing to do the same.
