There's plenty of news coming out of Las Vegas about the home detention release of those currently on trial and still facing trial in the Bunkerville Standoff case, but Cliven Bundy has decided to stay behind bars noting that home detention is not freedom. His wife, Carol Bundy, spoke to the news media Friday afternoon outside the federal courthouse in Las Vegas as defendant Ryan Payne left the building going to his home detention. Here is an excerpt of what she had to say: "My family made a stand in 2014, made a peaceful protest and we exercised our First...

LAS VEGAS (FOX5/AP) - A federal judge in Las Vegas is expected to release Cliven Bundy, his two sons, and a co-defendant. Attorney Daniel Hill told FOX5 Ammon, Cliven and Ryan Bundy will be released. Hill said, "most I can comfortably say since it was a sealed hearing is an issue arose in relation to the defense motions to dismiss." He added, "the motions are taken under submission." Further details were not immediately released.

It was a surprise move in and of itself when US District Judge Gloria Navarro reversed herself on November 13th (one day before the trial began) and released Ryan Bundy from jail. But now word that Judge Navarro is releasing the other defendants Cliven Bundy, Ammon Bundy and Ryan Payne as well. Cliven Bundy and Ammon Bundy have been consistently wearing their jail clothing to court and perhaps that helped Judge Navarro make her decision to help influence the jury away from sympathy for the defendants.....

John Lamb reports that much of the morning was occupied with arguing over what was going to be allowed in court regarding water rights and other matters mentioned in the prosecution motion filed Sunday. Judge Navarro also heard arguments about the FBI threat assessment. After a four day buildup around the ranch (April 5-8, 2014) the bureau decided that the Bundy's did not pose a high threat. But the Bureau of Land Management considered the threat level "high". Navarro will limit statements from Cliven Bundy she considers "self serving"......

"Saying he was quoting Mark Twain, Whipple said: 'Alcohol is for drinking, water is for fighting' In Cliven Bundy's mind, 'he has a right to the range because he has used it for so long'"...... "Oregon Live" story published 11/14/2017 on opening arguments from Bret Whipple, Cliven Bundy's attorney "....Evidence and arguments of water rights could easily cause the jury to be influenced by the notion that Cliven possessed an ownership interest in the land because he may have possessed water rights on the land, and that he was wronged when ordered to remove his cattle. Indeed one juror presented...

LAS VEGAS-The federal conspiracy case against Nevada cattleman Cliven Bundy, his two sons and co-defendant Ryan Payne isn't about the right to protest or bear arms, beliefs about cattle, ranching or the government's role in managing public lands, a prosecutor said Tuesday. Instead, the long awaited trial centers around the simple need to respect the rule of law, Nevada's Acting U.S. Attorney Steven Myrhe told jurors. "It's about whether or not you're going to use force and violence to enforce your beliefs," Myhre said. "Are you going to be governed by law and order, or the end of a gun?"..........

When asked by the judge if he wanted a one-week delay, Cliven Bundy's short reply was offered. Defendant Ryan Bundy also opposed a trial delay, but added he would support one if the co-defendants were freed from jail like was to a halfway house yesterday. Prosecutors came into court seeking a one week delay while FBI emails from the weeks leading up to the standoff were sought out and reviewed. Defense attorneys for Ryan Payne and Ammon Bundy asked for a mistrial. Acting US Attorney Steven Myhre offered opening arguments in the morning, claiming that the government's behavior was not...

LAS VEGAS-A judge declined Thursday to release Nevada cattleman Cliven Bundy days before trial, concerned he doesn't recognize federal authority and has a large incentive to flee with at least 80 years in prison hanging over his head if convicted of four of his 16 charges. US District Judge Gloria M. Navarro also rejected release requests by Ryan Bundy and Ryan Payne and said she would make a decision later on Ammon Bundy. Bret O. Whipple, the attorney representing the elder Bundy on charges in the 2014 standoff near Bunkerville, urged consideration for the patriarch's age, his failing health and...

The headline is a direct quote from pretrial documents filed by Acting US Attorney Stephen Myhre ahead of the Third Bunkerville Standoff trial set to begin October 10th. Again the federal government, the Department of Justice under the authority of Attorney General Jeff Sessions is seeking to restrict the use of the First and Second Amendment by the seven defendants facing trial. Myhre and his prosecution team seek to prohibit any discussion at any time during the trial from opening arguments to closing arguments, cross examination etc. etc. of matters like self-defense or defense of others, the behavior of Bureau...

In separate filings, lawyers for Cliven Bundy and Ryan Bundy have withdrawn from their defense. The lawyer for Ryan Bundy, who is a standby counsel, since Ryan Bundy intends to defense himself at next month's scheduled trial like he did in last year's Oregon Standoff trial says Bundy has used offensive language. Both men along with five others are set to go to trial October 10th. This may suggest that both men intend to be their own lawyers and defend themselves at their trial. Ammon Bundy's attorney will be J. Morgan Philpot associate of his main defense attorney at the...

A federal agent who had been scrutinized for his handling of rare evidence and his behavior at the counterculture Burning Man festival is no longer an employee of the Bureau of Land Management, authorities said Friday. Daniel Love, who played a command role in federal agents' 2014 standoff with Nevada rancher and states' rights figure Cliven Bundy, no longer works for the agency. .... Love still worked for the agency on Aug. 24, when a federal investigative report was released saying he handed out valuable stones known as moqui marbles to colleagues and a contractor "like candy,". This morning the five top level (Tier 1) defendants in the Bunkerville Standoff case will be involved in a status hearing along with the two Tier 2 defendants prosecutor Steve Myhre still wants to prosecute after juries failed to convict them in two trials. The six Tier 2 defendants were tried first after a previous status hearing many months ago where Cliven Bundy asked US District Judge Gloria Navarro to try the second group which contains no members of his family "so they could be home with their families soon". Now four of those six men are home with their...

Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, wants the names and other redacted information revealed in an ethics probe of the Bureau of Land Management law enforcement supervisory agent once in charge of Utah and Nevada. Details of the more than yearlong probe by the Interior Department's Office of Inspector General were released in a February report, but key names were blacked out — including that of Dan Love, who the Deseret News confirmed was at the center of the probe. In the report, the inspector general substantiated that ethics breaches had occurred and ... Bishop asked for the full report by no...

The truth is being revealed, as we all prayed that it would. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Agent Daniel P. Love has been breaking the law for years. As I was writing today's previous article on the Bundy Ranch case and asking whether or not the government hid the Inspector General's report that found a Bureau of Land Management agent, allegedly Daniel P. Love, guilty of misconduct, I referenced what the prosecution wanted to shield the court from seeing and hearing.  So, I thought I would take the things they wanted to keep the court from seeing and hearing and expose them in this article. Constitutional issues took center stage Monday when the first trial in the case against rancher Cliven Bundy and his supporters opened with jury selection in Las Vegas. The selection process at times resembled more of a political discussion than a courtroom proceeding, as lawyers grilled potential jurors about constitutional rights, marches and protests, federal authority, police conduct and news media. The extensive questioning provides defense attorneys and prosecutors the opportunity to identify people they do or do not want on the jury. Later this week, each side will be allowed to dismiss a limited number of jurors without showing cause....

SALT LAKE CITY — The Interior Department's Office of Inspector General investigated an unnamed Bureau of Land Management supervisory agent in Salt Lake City for more than a year on ethics complaints, with the independent panel concluding that breaches had occurred. The agent, which the Deseret News has confirmed is Dan Love through a source familiar with the investigation, is accused of using his position to secure preferential treatment for his family during the 2015 Burning Man event in Nevada, including using federal law enforcement officers as personal escorts for their safety, using his BLM vehicle to transport his girlfriend...
