the LRAD is most famous for use against civilians overseas during military operations.

These are military weapons designed to be used against the enemy....Oh, I get it...

Looking at this picture...

the device seems fairly large and should be pretty easy to take out.

I assume the construction zone LRADs will be tripped by conventional speed-sensing radar.

Situation:
I'm driving down a four lane divided highway in the right lane and come up on a construction zone where the speed limit drops, say, to 35mph. I obey. Meanwhile, some idiot in the left lane does not slow down and enters the construction zone at, say, 55mph. The radar senses him and turns on the LDAR. Now I, law abiding driver, am being subjected to LDAR because he's a fool.

I expect my lawsuit will name around 30 defendants, LRAD Corporation being at the top of the list.

They should just vaporize the speeders.

It will be safer for everybody.

Nice to see that advanced weapons designed, and built for use against terrorists are now to be used against US citizens. Your tax dollars at work.

Probably not for everyday use, just for those traveling in groups to support a cause, like Cliven Bundy? Imagine what it does to horses!

And when a motorist has a car crash after being subjected to this hellish device, I hope he runs over the idiot cop who deployed it.

A discarded Dishnetwork satellite dish would come in handy.

All one really needs to do is to build a feedback loop and send the sound waves back, much like an amplified high squeal feedback such at a stadium but in a narrow directed beam.

Now then what would they say when thousands of folks build these and just send that noise right back?

Its been brewing in my mind for while now to integrate one or two of these with my property video surveillance system for my home for protection from unwanted intrusion from bad guys or JBTs. In an inclosed space and aimed correctly these could be a very effective addition to deterrence.

Course if they didnt hi-tail it after a blast from these, I guess I would be be forced to use the claymores.

Perfect! Just as a speeding driver approaches a work zone, blast them with intense sound, startle them onto loss of control, and scare them so much their first thought is to floor it to get away from the pain.

Ah well, if that fails there's always...

Wasn’t this the state that didn’t want drivers to flash their headlights to warn other motorists of a speed trap?

Meanwhile, the liability lawyers are entering their feeding frenzy mode, foaming at the mouth at the prospect of telling a jury how the government “fired a cannon” at the accident victims car, causing it to crash.

It will be a hoot watching the government try to explain that it is a “less than lethal” cannon.

Just another piece of evidence why many people believe we are moving towards a military/police state.
