Video: Boehner Ridicules Conservative Opponents of Immigration Reform
Town Hall ^ | 4/25/14 | Guy Benson

This strikes me as an unforced error by the Speaker of the House:

"The appetite amongst my colleagues for doing this is not real good...here's the attitude: 'Ohhhhh, don't make me do this! Ohhhhhh, this is too hard!' You should hear them. You know, we get elected to make choices."

In the clip, Boehner acknowledges the camera in the back of the room, so he knew full well that his comments would become public. What was he thinking? I recognize that Boehner is a supporter of immigration reform. He's said so on the record, he's said so to major donors (most of whom are on board, too), and there are rumors percolating that House leadership may try to take up the issue once primary season is over.

The last laugh is going to be on The Weeper.

Let’s se, 2.5 - 4 million Tea Party’ers sat out the 2012 election.

What if 5 - 6 million of us sit 2014?

Though it’s in bad taste, more and more the reference to John Boehner as a “turd burglar” seems to be appropriate.

Frankly, the man was loaded on booze in my opinion. He was feeling good, secure in his support and was reckless enough to taunt his detractors. I honestly think he’s a drunk.

Boehner has become something you scrape off of the bottom of your shoe. Maybe he needs to start dodging shoes thrown at him when he shows his drunken face.

Boehner is starting the Republican circular firing squad because he knows that his days as majority leader are numbered. I think that what we are seeing is the takeover of the party by the Libertarians, who would rather kill off the Republican Party than see conservatives take control of the government.

RE “The appetite amongst my colleagues for doing this is not real good...here's the attitude: ‘Ohhhhh, don't make me do this! Ohhhhhh, this is too hard!’ You should hear them. You know, we get elected to make choices.”

Ironically I first heard this on Levin last week, he played the clip and went off about it, and its sounds almost identical to Levin's characterization of some GOP house and Senate members pushback on shutting down the government last year.

Levin would do the ‘Ohhhhh, don't make me do this! Ohhhhhh, this is too hard!’ line referring hesitancy in shutting down the government and then give a lecture on American soldiers at D-day and how they had it tough.

Re: ‘But whose nose will we be cutting off...???’

Just don’t care any more.

Been betrayed by the RINOs too many times.

Who’s the bigger fool? Me, who will cut my nose off? Or the others of you who keep voting these pecker-heads in and then end up moaning like old women that the MAN done you wrong, again?

The Yukons finally figured it out.

If Boner and the GOP Establishment were secretly controlled by the same men that controlled Obama and the Democrats would they act any differently than they do now?

Boehner is trying to influence the primaries. He wants to keep as many conservatives out as possible.

I believe you are correct.

He's trying to dispirit the conservative base -- use our innate pessimism against us.

I think that Boehner is trying to help the Libertarians take over the GOP as punishment for the Conservative criticism.

Yes, and I think the sitting out started in 2006 and continued in 2008 for some after W tried to force amnesty for illegal aliens on the party in 2006 and 2007.

This issue is poison and the blockheaded Republican idiots who've been pushing it at least since 2006 have greately weaked the party, and might succeed in making it irrelevant in presidential races for years to come.
