Rand Paul Touts GOP Unity, Endorses Susan Collins 'Wholeheartedly' in Maine

Telegram: You’re going to join U.S. Sen. Susan Collins for a state party fundraiser today. She’s defended National Security Agency spying programs you oppose, and she’s also running against a Democrat, Shenna Bellows, who comes pretty close to sharing your views on that and other privacy issues. Do you support her, despite disagreement on many of those issues?

Rand Paul: I wholeheartedly endorse Senator Collins for re-election. I think she’s doing a great job for Maine and for the country. ... I don’t really know, exactly, what her position is on the NSA; you’d have to ask her about that.

I just know my position, but I think we’re a big political party. There’s room for not-entire agreement on every issue.

Rand Paul: I wholeheartedly endorse Senator Collins

He was big on Mitt Romney as well.

He’s finally gone round the bend. Or he’s been “co-opted” in Trent Lott’s words. Thirty pieces of silver and a puff piece in Time by Mitch McConnell (who the hell reads Time anymore??)

One by one they get them: Johnson, Ayotte, Fischer, Flake, Rubio, Paul. They do whatever they have to to protect their precious Senate!

Cruz for President!

He did not support Cruz on the floor during the buster.

He whined when Cruz answered a pundit question re whether he agreed with Paul’s wacky foreign policy ideas.

And he has a very bad hairdo...a deal-breaking bad hairdo.

He’s got oversized opportunism radar sensors—and he senses an opening in the GOPe slot for the 2016 primaries.

Rand Paul Touts GOP Unity,

Endorses Susan Collins 'Wholeheartedly' in Maine

Dude shows his ineptitude right off the bat. These two actions could not be more mutually exclusive.

"Wholeheartedly"?! Srsly?! RonJr FAIL. BIG TIME.

Or, it could just be that the fruit of Ron Paul's loins wasn't very conservative to begin with, and the "Tea Party leaders" instantly endorsed another lousy candidate because he told them what they wanted to hear.

Doesn’t know her position on NSA.

Does he know her positions on anything?

Does it matter to him?

Well he’s certainly been better than Trey Grayson, McConnell’s preferred candidate. Grayson would never have done a filibuster over drones or grilled the attorney general, or John Kerry, etc.

Many of them are easily duped. Just look at the bandwagons in 2008 and 2012. They are so desperate to find a conservative that they fail to vet the candidates and ignore anything they don't want to hear.

“Endorses Susan Collins ‘Wholeheartedly’...”

Gosh, kinda makes you wonder what sort of people he’d nominate for SCOTUS, doesn’t it?

Meanwhile our Republican governor (who is pretty good on most things) is having a fund raiser with Chris Christie. $150 to get in, $1500 to speak with them.

A few months ago he had a fund raiser with Jeb Bush. Back when Paul LePage was running for gov. he made the comment that he’d be to Maine what Gov. Christie would be to NJ. Fortunately that hasn’t been the case but I would have hoped he would have avoided mentioning Christie, much less appear with him.

Well, there WAS a Reagan Republican in the primary (Bill Johnson), but the "Tea Party" leaders wouldn't give him the time of day, and flocked to Ron Paul's kid the moment he showed up and started screaming "TEA PARTY!!" the loudest. The fact that the Ron Paul movement is notoriously bad on social issues and many libertarians are open borders was ignored. Johnson would have most likely never called for a GOP "big tent" on abortion and gay marriage, or got cozy with the "immigration reform" crowd. Johnson was a decorated military vet but couldn't get any traction because he's not a "celebrity" politician's kid like Rand.

Bottom line: The KY Tea Party made their bed, now they'll have to lay in it for six years. (Ditto with the crybabies in FL whining about how Rubio "betrayed" them). Elections have consequences.

At first I thought Rand would be decent and better than Ron at least. Then I knew he was a sell out in 2012 because he started sounding more like his father. But now it is worse than I thought. Rand is colluding with the establishment. He is all over the map like Romney too. Rand is only telling people what they want to hear only to contradict himself later. It is going downhill for him and he is toast. I knew all this when he endorsed Mitch McConnell and also tried to sound too moderate during the budget fiasco and government shutdown last fall. Now he is a traitor. A Benedict Arnold. Guy is a fraud. He must be stopped because he is dangerous to the tea party movement.

Ok. I didn’t know about Johnson. Could he have beaten Grayson in the primary?

A fact lost on many freepers. And they'll keep getting stung as long as they repeat the same mistake:

RAND PAUL: "Today, I'm here to announce my candidacy for the U.S. Senate. I wholeheartedly embrace the Tea Party ideals and I grew up in --"

TEA PARTY LEADERS: ENDORSED!!!!!

Rand cannot have it both ways, and he has approved of things totally contrary to that statement.
