Silver's leadership exam only beginning (NBA commissioner Adam Silver)
AP via Yahoo ^ | April 29, 2014 | Jim Litke

Donald Sterling won't go quietly. Never has before. So even as praise rolls in for NBA commissioner Adam Silver's forceful decision, the first real test of his leadership may just be beginning...

No owners said publicly they wouldn't support the decision, even Mavericks owner Mark Cuban who said Tuesday he agrees with the commissioner 100 percent.

A day earlier, however, Cuban — while criticizing Sterling's comments as "obviously bigoted, obviously racist" — called it "damn scary" that a precedent could be set.

"Regardless of your background, regardless of the history they have, if we're taking something somebody said in their home and we're trying to turn it into something that leads to you being forced to divest property in any way, shape or form, that's not the United States of America," Cuban said. "I don't want to be part of that." ...

still not one major outlet story (including fnc) about magic Johnson wanting to buy this team and he is the one in the picture.

The NBA is deceased.

I can see TMZ, who leaked this recording, being sued - as in CA, is a ‘both party’ state.

The recoding was made illegally and when the broadcaster put it out, became party to the crime.

Remember about all the howling over the recording by Linda Tripp of Clinton’s little [s]girl[/s] sex toy committing perjury? Ya, double standard indeed.

I wish we would learn more about this.

Yes, the comments were bad and all that.

But did he know he was being recorded?
Is this girl basically a whore?
Were the tapes and release publicly part of extortion or blackmail?
Why is the girl being sued by Sterling’s wife?

There is a big untold story. Commissioner comes in, after only 3 days to hash through a complicated situation, and gives Sterling the equivalent of the death penalty. Was he hasty in his decision? Did he really investiage everything, including the background of this girl?

Any other bombs going to drop in this story???

I won’t defend or even agree with any of Sterling’s comments, but this level of punishment goes too far. You’d think the guy murdered people.

As far as I am concerned, the NBA is DEAD. If this Commish’s decision stands, I will never watch another NBA game. This whole controversy is BS.

I’m hoping Sterling will tarnish Silver.

(Yes...I know Sterling isn’t a nice guy.)

Silver may find out that an 80 year old billionaire with a bad attitude is not an easy mark to try for your first corporate kill. He obviously doesn’t give a sh!t about what anyone thinks of him, being out in public with his ho’s all the time. He probably doesn’t really care about the money.

So, if I was Silver, I’d take a step back and look around before jumping in bed with Magic Johnson.

Purely for entertainment purposes I would love to see this go to court. The depositions and legal proceedings would be very revealing for all involved.

Which of course is why it will never get that far.

We should apply “Affirmative Action Law” to the NBA. It just isn’t fair that one race has more ‘Fast Muscle” than others.

Magic and this “Girlfriend” set Sterling up. They know each other(Probably having an affair nothing Magic does would surprise me) Magic has always wanted to own an NBA team, he knows that Sterling is a racist, he probably figured let’s work together to get the big prize and it worked

It certainly would be entertaining to see Sterling's lawyers dig up all the racist comments ever made by players, coaches, and commentators to prove that the league doesn't punish racism and he is being singled out.

Once affirmative action with racial quotas was allowed to stand, it was all over - it is legally and morally indefensible, and completely “un-American”. This is just a pont frther down the slope.

Of course the whore set him up. She is being sued by Sterlings wife and the little bitsh said she was going to get even. Boy did she, all to help out Jordan buy a team on the cheap.

If you listen to the recording you can tell she was leading him and setting an 80 yr. old mind up for an ambush. The old codger just does not have the mental acuity he used to have and his ego would not let him do otherwise.

He will not go down peacefully and disappear into the sunset. It will be nasty.
