For years, weve heard Republicans claim that they want to repeal and replace Obamacare with a better set of reforms. (What those reforms would exactly be, nobody can say for sure.) But there was always one critical problem with the repeal and replace plan: it stands no chance of passage until at least 2017. By then, as many as 35 million people could be on Obamacare-sponsored coverage. A few Republican leaders have had the temerity to acknowledge this factand thats a good thing.
By committing to repeal, Republicans damage their chances in 2016
Most pundits are focused on the likelihood of Republican gains in 2014, fueled by an older, whiter electorate and the unpopularity of Obamacare. But the real prize is 2016. If Republicans cant retake the White House in 2016, conservatives will have little to no opportunity to shape the future of the health-care entitlement leviathan.
And theres good reason to believe that Republicans will lose in 2016. Heres my thinking. In the Republican presidential primary leading up to that election, no aspiring GOP nominee will stray from the repeal and replace incantation that has become de rigueur among conservatives. To do otherwise will risk being called a RINO: a Republican In Name Only.
So, a repealer-and-replacer gets nominated by the GOP, much to the satisfaction of conservatives. That nominee runs against Hillary Clinton, whose only campaign ad of the year points out that for the 35 million people on Obamacare-sponsored health coverage, you wont be able to keep your plan under the Republicans. If 70 percent of those 35 million people vote for Hillary, Republicans lose in a landslide.

So it’s collapsing, but it’s not going anywhere.
Obamacare’s going to get so bad people will be begging us to end it... That’s when we end it.
Everyone NEEDS to get a GRIP, who in the HELL is aging EVERYONE
is going to be LOVING Obammie Care, NO DOCTORS, NO HOSPITALS,
LIMITED CARE, GRANNIES DIEING DENIED CARE,!!!! Major tax increases to cover this mess!!! This LAW WILL NEVER STAND!!!!
Small consolation since the rest of the economy and, by extension, what's left of our American way of life.
We've known from the beginning ZeroCare is an economic and societal train wreck. Total repeal is the only way.
And nothing changes if nothing changes...time to get rid of the Boner and McMitch and anyone of their minions who have no testicles and no spine
Fast forward to 2017: 9 out of 10 people despise Obamacare. It’s prognosis is grim.
BS!
If this is true, by 2016 we will be a third world communist country.

That’s exactly wrong. Repeal requires a veto-proof majority in both Houses, or removal of Zero through impeachment. And of course those 35 million will remain a small and sickly minority that the rest of us will tell to sit down and shut up.

We need to start rejecting the faulty premise that arguments like this are based on. There is NO way that 35 million people will be on Ocare by 2016. Some folks will be on medicaid and some on private insurance that makes O happy but there is NO indication that those kind of numbers even make sense. The 35 million mark would only be true IF all of the 43 million uninsured buy insurance.....there is NO indication this will happen.
Reject the premise. Kick these arguments to the curb
the gop-e and rinos never genuinely wanted to repeal it. it’s’all been a sham. they are traitors to their party and the country. enablers and appeasers of the socialist enemies of this country.
repubs are doing their best to prop it up. and will continue to do so.
To REPEAL a Federal Medical Insurance Law and REPLACE it with a
Federal Medical Insurance Law is the same as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. THE Albert Einstein called it INSANITY.
To REPEAL a failed Federal Medical Insurance Law and REPLACE it with a “fixed” Federal Medical Insurance Law is to prove to We, the People, that Congress is incapable of learning. IOW, Congress will be proven, AGAIN, to be stupid, that is, “incapable of learning.”
TEXAS Senator Ted Cruz was right to advocate “Repealing every word of Obamacare.,”
Doormat Republican Boehner was wrong to oppose Senator Cruz, and willingly caved in to Reid and Obama, AGAIN!
With each passing day that the US House Members does not replace Speaker Boehner, Speaker (?) Johnny Boehner continues to be THE Poster Boy for what is rotten in the formerly GREAT Republican Party, and the current US House of Representatives.
This clearly isn't the only major underlying purpose behind Obamacare, but it is a biggie. A further observation is that corporate interests are behind the RINO's push for immigration reform (cheaper wages). Thus we end up with the crony capitalism / corporate fascism picture we see today.
You're failing to count many of those who lost/will lose insurance and have to buy into Obamacare. By 2016, the 35 million is easily achievable. Probably a lot more.
Well, gawwwwwlllleeee! I'm sure that never EVER occured to the GOP-e sons of b!otches who pretended to fight against this socialist monstrosity. Gee, if I were the cynical type, I'd say they'll be using it as a political argument for the next coupla generations!
I can only pray for what will be left of this country for my daughters.
Stand by for Lamestream Media announcement by GOPe that as Obamacare won’t work, neither will they walk on water.
For this, we may remember to thank the Republicans who voted to allow cloture, after which they voted against the bill which they knew would pass upon the vote for cloture.
We are being manipulated and there is no other interpretation. We should never support those that voted for cloture, becuase they are responsible, even if they lie about how much they hate Obamacare now.
They wanted it. They got it.
We didn’t want it. Our opinions don’t count.
THe Republicans who voted for cloture can claim they are still in power, but of course, being in power when you join the opposing side is no asset.
F’em all.
It may not go anywhere, but something as dysfunctional as Obamacare will be beaten, twisted, stripped and shaped into something entirely different than it is now. With Obama’s dictatorial manipulation of Obamacare it is already something different than the legislation that was passed.
Wait until all the exemptions come home to roost. This national nightmare has just begun.
ping for later!
