The leader of the Liberty GB party Paul Weston, who was arrested on Saturday for breaching a Section 27 Dispersal Notice, is now possibly facing imprisonment for 2 years. Mr Weston, a candidate in the 22 May European Elections in the South East, was arrested on 26 April in front of Winchester Guildhall for quoting in public a passage critical of Islam written by Winston Churchill, using a megaphone. He spent several hours in a cell at Winchester Police Station, after which the original charge of breaching a Section 27 Dispersal Notice was dropped and Mr Weston was 're-arrested' for a Racially Aggravated Crime, under Section 4 of the Public Order Act, which carries a potential prison sentence of 2 years. He was then fingerprinted and obliged to submit to DNA sampling, following which he was bailed with a return date to Winchester Police on May 24th. Had the woman who complained to the police made an official statement, Mr Weston would not have been released last night, but fortunately for him she did not. The case is now being presented to the Crown Prosecution Service. If the CPS decides to prosecute, then Mr Weston will be arrested, awaiting trial, when he presents himself to the police on May 24th.

We might as well consider the U.K. no different than Saudi Arabia at this point. They also have a religion police.
Free speech ping.
It’s a “Racially Aggravated Crime” to diss Islam in public in merry old England.
2 years for Blasphemy against Islam. Give it a decade and they’ll stone him for the same offense.
England is dead.
I believe that the enslaved isle is now spelled A-N-G-L-E-S-T-A-N
Churchill has been voted by his countrymen the greatest Brit of all time in just the past few years. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature. If there’s any of England left this calls for trial by jury and for the jury to nullify the charges. If you can’t quote Nobel prize winning writers, or the greatest citizen in your country’s history who the heck can you quote? This needs to be actively defended along the lines Steyn took out hate charges in Canada and is fighting the hockey stick bully in this country. Although the person charged is from a competing party to UKIP I hope Nigel Farage nails the establishment trying to charge him. The publicity can help him and his allies in the forthcoming EU parliamentary elections. Victory in which would position UKIP favorably for the bigger goal of tackling the UK parliament.
Orwell’s nightmare coming true..
Appeasement to Satanic evil.

So glad my parents moved to Australia when I was a kid otherwise I would be embroiled in this nonsense - and coming from Luton I would definatley be in the EDL! Sadly though I heard the other day that there are now 500,000 Muslims in Australia - with only a population of 20 million that is way too many!
500,000 too many.
wow... i never knew improperly citing your sources came with such a stiff penalty
copyright laws are really out of control
It should be mandatory that the quote is contained in every article written about the incident
You got that right. There is a nice bloke down the street from Iran - he is more like a hippie though and doesn’t go to a mosque - those types I don’t mind. He is humble and very funny - can’t say the same for too many of those who take their religion seriously!
All but? It isn't even on life support.
Poor chap! Will they also be taking from him any ABA teams he might own? He must of last his head.
Think of the lives that were sacrificed to keep England free in World War 2.
These ungrateful fools have just tossed that hard-won liberty away like a piece of garbage.
So if Shakespeare has a line in one of his plays disparaging Islam (Othello?), and some actor recites the line during the play, should the actor get thrown in jail ?
