Having had the media select an affirmative action president for us, there really isn’t a need for the doctrine any longer.

Affirmative Action is the de facto standard. It’s embedded in the minds of the left, and will be implemented, with or without regulations.

You're right. They may change the name of it, spin it or otherwise put lipstick on it, but they are obsessed with race as a tool of division and won't put it away.

colleges already bypass quotas by taking an applicants “story” into account. We know what that means.

Recently, a group of liberal Asian-American state lawmakers in California -- a state that is over 60 percent non-white -- successfully blocked a proposed return to racial considerations in college admissions.Because the admissions policies in CA were distinctly anti-Asian, despite being promoted as pro-minority (and Asians comprise less than 15% of California's population). Only blacks and Latinos were given "bonus points"... mostly because the Asians, percentagewise, were already kicking the tar out of the other minorities (and often whites) in getting admission slots.

True.
Supreme Court decisions are ignored by the Left as invalid when the decisions aren’t favorable to them, but get interpreted wildly across the board - black-check style - when they do.

Nobody has ever had a positive benefit from Affirmative Action. The person who won a position because of affirmative action always has the cloud hanging overhead in that he was less worthy than any of the rivals, and that no competence was assured with the placement in that slot. In fact, the Peter Principle, in that a person has been elevated beyond the level of his (or her) competence, is greatly exaggerated with this action.
Worse, when affirmative action is used in even one instance, then all others of that “protected and privileged” class, whether they were extended the “benefit” or not, is looked upon with suspicion and distrust.
Those of us who have to deal with the Affirmative Action hire are faced with a person who KNOWS he is a hack, and tend to be much under-served, even in relatively simple and routine matters. This only builds tension and uncertainty in both parties of the transaction, and develops many of the characteristics of an “unpleasant” work environment.
If not downright hostile.

... but get interpreted wildly across the board - black-check style - when they do.
Probably the most notorious example is Roe v. Wade. IIRC, the decision allowed each state to decide abortion legality for themselves - but it was immediately hailed by the baby-killers as being law across the country - immediately.
Conversely, when the MSM reported the AA decision last month, they bent over backwards and tripped all over themselves trying to suggest it was just one state affected and then, only to college admissions.
