“Would I be concerned about possible job losses if there were a $15 minimum wage in the restaurant industry, yes, I’d be concerned,” he told the New York Times in December. “There are concerns that it might lead to the substitution of automation for workers.”

Count on it.

No tipping since the waiters will make a living wage!

You can pretty much count on the food service industry patrons compensating for the increased costs with little or no tipping. The reason for tipping is good service, KNOWING that the staff are not well-compensated in their hourly wage. Raise that to $15, and I’d have no problem whatsoever not tipping a waiter. No problem at all.

“Will the last person leaving Seattle turn out the lights?”

The billboard was displayed for only 15 days in April 1971, near the Sea-Tac Airport, when it looked like Boeing was going to close up shop.

There was a mass exodus from that city, again during a vast economic downturn.

No city in America can support a $15/hour minimum wage. Those who cannot find work at that level of wages, whether through lack of demand, lack of skills, or lack of ambition, are doomed to remain jobless. Whether they stay in Seattle or not, is a matter of whatever public assistance they can chisel from the plantation masters.

If Seattle succeeds in raising its minimum wage to $15, the city will suffer.

It is especially the Youth that will suffer. They most likely will not get that critical first job in Seattle.

“Though some workers end up unemployed, enough get raises to make the tradeoff worthwhile.”

Just wow. It’s okay that some people become unemployed and put on welfare because in balance others do better. That’s about as elitist as it gets. Also, there’s no mention of the people who are impacted the most. People living on a fixed income are hit two ways. The cost of anything they use goes up and inflation rises so that whatever the new minimum wage is, it still has the buying power of the old minimum wage. But who takes it in the butt here? Retirees.

sometimes people just have to learn the hard way.

I say we all support Seattle in this, and watch the inevitable collapse and be glad it was only Seattle that did this.

Eventually, all of the businesses requiring min. wage employees will be located 100 yards outside the Seattle city limits.

The limousine Liberals think there are too many of those scruffy, working class people in Seattle. This is one way to reduce the population.

If Seattle succeeds in raising its minimum wage to $15, the city will suffer.

Have the proponents of raising the minimum wage talked about where the extra cash to pay the higher wage will come from? Will the city reduce taxes so the small business owners can pay more to their employees? Will they otherwise make up the difference with taxpayer dollars?

Or do the socialists want the businesses to somehow pay using their obscene profits? Do the socialists have a clue on what are the economics of free enterprise? Do they understand risk, cost of satisfying all the government regulations, paying the taxes, etc.?

Unions and liberals spending more than a city can afford are turning a lot of America into desolate and abandoned areas.

Seattle will be heading that way on a more rapid pace with their new high minimum wage.

Go to the video below to see closed malls decaying and rotting in America.

Going down next in America will be many of our hospitals due to Obozo Care. In Californicator land, hospitals are merging with others and many are in the closing the door stages. Union health care members who voted and supported Obozo Care are picketing and forcing more hospitals into a financial quagmire.

Unemployment Drops to 0% as Last Worker Leaves Labor Force
The People’s Cube ^ | May 3, 2014 | Opiate of the People

Posted by 4Liberty

Comrade Barack Obama today became the first to achieve a milestone coveted by enlightened central planners everywhere when the Bureau of Laborious Statistics announced the much-followed totally-meaningless “headline” U3 unemployment rate for last month was ZERO PERCENT! This means that the glorious economic recovery he engineered after the disastrous Bush years has now attained FULL EMPLOYMENT!

It is a tribute to Professor Obama that he was able to find the Holy Grail which eluded history’s greatest economic thinkers such as Lenin, Stalin and Mao. This landmark achievement along with his establishment of free healthcare for everyone via the Affordable Care Act cements his reputation as the Greatest Leader in this or any other universe for all time.

The dramatic moment occurred at 12:03 PM, four weeks to the day after Lyman Yilk, a pipe-fitter from Bittcling, Pa, finally gave up looking for work. Mr. Yilk has been unemployed since 2005 but was on a celebratory bender since the day after Mr. Obama’s first election and did not know that the Keystone Pipeline (which Mr. Yilk was hoping to find work on) had been cancelled due to environmental concerns. When he finally sobered up four weeks ago and learned the project was dead, he abandoned his search to find a job.

Mr. Yilk was the last worker to leave the labor force and turned the lights out as he left. According to the BLS definition:

Quote: U3: Official unemployment rate per the ILO definition occurs when people are without jobs and they have actively looked for work within the past four weeks. Without Mr. Yilk, there was no one actively looking for work any longer, hence the U3 rate was now ZERO PERCENT, praise Obama!

Gloom-and-doom naysayers were quick to note that the labor force participation rate had also dropped to zero percent which (according to them) was not a good thing as it meant no one was employed. Comrade Nancy Pelosi countered their racist, straw-man argument brilliantly by observing that it also meant no comrade was any longer “job-locked” and each was free to be an artist, writer, hooker, etc, and pursue their passion.

“There is no underestimating this tremendous achievement of Barack Obama” said Paul Klugeman, an expert on hiding declines and fudging economic statistics as well being the self-proclaimed “Conscious Liberal”. “Comrade Obama has achieved the socialist dream of freeing all of The People ™ from the slavery of work and permitting them to live off of someone else’s dime as god, if he existed, would’ve wanted.”

Dr. Klugeman was asked if a problem would arise due to the fact that since no one was working, there would also be no one to pay for the benefits that all the non-workers were collecting.

“Nonsense”, he proclaimed. “The Fed will simply print money for artists and writers and hookers to use to buy things from China! What could go wrong?”

It seems so simple now, it’s a wonder no one ever thought of it sooner.

“The genius of Dear Leader Barack Obama lies in his simplicity”, said Dr. Klugeman.

We agree.

This is actually a good thing, and I hope Seattle does pass the $15 minimum wage. We know what will happen...it will be an up front in your face failure of the idea that government knows how to set wages.

Let them do this, and let them accept the consequences.

Things’ll be getting interesting there soon enough.

Let’s just hope the people wise up and don’t just demand an even higher wage (you know, like they’ve been doing, even though each raise is supposed to bring long-term prosperity).
