The OUTSTANDING exception has been Dick Cheney...always one of my heroes.
He was VP when my husband and I were in the middle east in the early 1980's. Sadaam Hussein stated that the Gulf War would be the "mother of all wars."
HarHar. Cheney said that it would probably be the "mother of all retreats." He won my heart. That war got very personal to me. We weren't TOO far out of reach of Sadaam's missile range.
I was NEVER, EVER so glad of anything to learn that we (American forces) WERE in the Gulf at the time...a "top secret" deal that no one knew about. We only "knew" because we HEARD the jets all the time and saw the aircraft carrier at the mouth of the Gulf.
We also KNEW because we got REAL booze -- surreptitiously, of course, from the "not there" U.S. troops. One DOES NOT get "Johnny Walker Red Label" from ANY PLACE over there, unless it IS from the U.S. military.

We are the descendants of immigrants Joey boy and they key here is not what anyone group or another brings but how each group assimilates into the common culture and herein lies the problem. Immigrants are not being encouraged to assimilate and we are fast becoming an unassimilated boarding house for the Third World.

Legal immigration as crucial to American innovation. The US has over the years attracted the hardest working, brightest people throughout the world and they have made this nation great.
Today we attract people from the third world and innovation is not the word I am thinking of. (excuse grammar)
I was just replying subrosa because the subtext with this hoary argument is always ‘’We’re a nation of immigrants’’. We’re not.

Both parties know (and Americans citizens are in denial) that without these immigrants our population would be declining and aging rapidly; I don’t want illegals here any more than the next guy, but I know why both parties are on board with them coming here. Within a few decades most “Americans” will be able to trace their roots to immigrants that have come here within the last 20 years, since most Americans don’t think it is worthwhile to have children. They aren’t brought here to work as they were in the past; now they are brought here to rent apartments, buy homes (the legal ones), fill classrooms with their children, and CONSUME. If you don’t look at them that way then the government’s policy makes no sense; if you do look at it that way then “America” as envisioned by the Founding Fathers is already dead.

We are sending American jobs to foreign countries.
This is affecting America.
America needs jobs. America needs to bring back jobs to America, and America needs to grow again.
Neither party is paying attention to American jobs.
That is my point. For an entire generation we have been sending jobs to China.
China is growing. China however does not have America’s best interests at heart. China has China’s best interests at heart.
America needs to look out for America now.
Bring back US jobs.
We need to grow once again. Stop sending jobs away.

Time for states to go on offense. Round up illegals and ship them by the busload to DC. Let’s find out how these “compassionate” left-wing commies and fascists deal with a few million illegals in their backyard.
