Boehner, with primary fight near, hits hard on Benghazi (primary is Tuesday!!)

House Speaker John Boehner is aggressively looking for answers after recent email revelations about the Benghazi attacks — a tactical move possibly to boost his bid for re-election, according to an expert.

“I find the timing interesting. It is four days before his primary,” said Brad Marston, a Republican consultant. “I think if he hadn’t made a move, there would be a total outcry from the conservative caucus in Congress.”

Boehner — who faces three GOP opponents Tuesday — yesterday said he would create a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012, assault on the U.S. diplomatic post in Libya that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. Emails released this week showed the White House withheld documents from congressional investigators, he said.

“What else about Benghazi is the Obama administration still hiding from the American people?” Boehner said.

Separately, U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, the Republican chairman of the House oversight committee, yesterday issued a subpoena to force Secretary of State John Kerry to testify about the administration’s response to the attack.

Boehner and other Republicans are gearing up for November elections, which could swing the Senate to GOP control, and Benghazi could be used as ammunition against Democrats.

“If the story continues to bubble beyond Fox News — if the mainstream media get a hold of it — it’s going to be harder for Democrats to dismiss,” Marston said. “It keeps the story alive as more and more people start to pay attention to 2014.”

However, Democrats aren’t so sure the Benghazi story line will have an effect at the ballot box.

I knew something was up. Opposing Democrats is COMPLETELY out of character for John Boehner.

I haven’t, no. And I don’t think they have runoffs in Ohio.

a subpoena to force Secretary of State John Kerry to testify about the administration’s response

WTF is this about, anyway? They DO know that Jean Francois Querrié was NOT in the administration in 2012, right?

This just proves that the Constitution of the US, the people of the US, or the family members that lost those killed at Benghazi means nothing to these criminals except re-election. Disgusting!

I don’t care why he’s doing it. No politician has clean hands. Elect somebody else, and that person will be a freshman and won’t have any power. We need to get him to stay on top of this.

Make it clear that this is a condition of your vote.

He, like all politicians pander, say what the electorate wants to hear then do his own thing when elected.

They all pander, and a freshman dose likewise. Anybody who thinks they’re electing a pure and “principled” person is a fool.

Just get as much as you can...an advance pledge or something of that nature. Try to enforce it, but never expect a politician to follow through on his pledges unless the flames are licking at his backside.

Nice to see someone else figured out why Bonehead did this, but it doesn't matter. The formation of a Select Committee with Gowdy running it is the best news we've had since Election Night 2010.
The boo birds and nay sayers can cry all they want but this could also mean the GOPe has decided maybe they don't want a civil war with us because we might stay home and they wouldn't get credit for granting amnesty.
