FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ A CHEERFUL HEART IS GOOD MEDICINE ~ 04 May 2014
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The World !! | The Canteen Crew

A CHEERFUL HEART IS GOOD MEDICINE

Proverbs 17:22

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Which came first the chicken or the egg? We may never know the answer to this question, but when it comes to living a fulfilled life, the joy precedes the good feelings. As a matter of fact, the joy is the antidote to the woes of life. Humor is great medicine. Humor helps us to see the big picture. It provides us with a new context by which to view our situation. It gives us a different vantage point which we can use to reevaluate life. Humor gives us reasons to feel good!

My prayer today is that we find humor in all of life.

LT Brian J. C. Haley, CHC, USNR

We had our annual Fiesta Fest today. I got roped into serving the rice onto the plates, because the original server got tired.

Well, that lasted for over two hours. I was the only guy in the kitchen with all the church ladies. We had a great turnout again.

I have some pics of the inside of both Truman’s and Ike’s houses. They were remodeling both for the Potsdam Conference. Maybe will find them maybe not.

Were all the church ladies mothering you?

Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all. Serving for more than 2 hours is quite the job. Did the servers get to eat?

No, I told them it reminded me of working in the mess halls and as we said "Putting the slop on the trays". We did get our share of the food, even though we had cheated in the serving line.

HEAR MY PRAYER,
O GOD, INCLINE THINE EAR!

"Hear My Prayer / O For The Wings Of A Dove"
Felix Mendelssohn
(Click)

"Hear my prayer, O God, incline Thine ear!
Thyself from my petition do not hide.
Take heed to me! Hear how in prayer I mourn to Thee,
Without Thee all is dark, I have no guide.
The enemy shouteth, The godless come fast!
Iniquity, hatred, upon me they cast!
The wicked oppress me, Ah where shall I fly?
Perplexed and bewildered, O God, hear my cry!
My heart is sorely pained, within my breast,
my soul with deathly terror is oppressed,
trembling and fearfulness upon me fall,
with horror overwhelmed, Lord, hear me call,
O for the wings, for the wings of a dove!
Far away, far away would I rove!
In the wilderness build me a nest,
and remain there for ever at rest."

I was the only guy in the kitchen with all the church ladies.

That can certainly be a good time! I love to sit back and chuckle over all the talk...it's better than any sitcom on the tube!
