One of the most liberal Representatives in Congress wants California to raise its minimum wage to $26 an hour.

Appearing on Crossfire on Friday, co-host Newt Gingrich asked Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) whether it was a good idea for the mayor of Seattle to propose a minimum wage of $15 an hour. Lee said, "good for him."

"In California, more than likely from what I remembered, a living wage where people could live and take care of their families and move toward achieving the American dream was about $25, $26 an hour," Lee said.

When pressed further, Lee said she would "absolutely" support it for California and claimed it would not cause more unemployment....

It’s as stupid as our government wanting to lower the minimum wage - there might be a short term bounce but the effect will level out goods will have to be cheaper for people to buy under those circumstances. Demand drops - prices must drop - costs must drop and around and around we go. Interfering in the system too much has little effect (usually negative) over a longer period of time!

Votes are like any other commodity. When you can’t produce enough of those yourself, you have to go out into the open market to procure what you need. Inflation has raised the price of votes right along with food and gasoline.

Not enough — make it $100 per hour? Better, $1,000 per hour. Or, how about $100,000 per year salary?

Bottom line is many of the idiot politicians have absolutely NO idea what they are doing or what the consequences of such stupidity are. Some pols know exactly what the consequences are, but they have their agenda and they don’t care. Taken together, these politicians and their willing dupes are evil.

We are being FORCED to live in the ‘ice cream fantasy world’.

The 7th grade class was going to elect a class president and they nominated Jimmy and Suzy for the office.

Suzy went about the school finding what the ‘students’ wanted, made several lists and set about drawing up papers for the School in regards to lunch, homework and whatever else may be on peoples minds.

After a few weeks hard work Suzy was way ahead as her and her volunteers prepared for the election,

Jimmy had yet to lift a finger and know one even realized he was in the race.

On the big day the candidates were giving their wrap up speeches and Suzy went over all the concessions she had gotten, plus some other ideas to help the students along.
When she finished, someone had to wake Jimmy to make his ‘speech’.

Jimmy walked up to the podium, looked around, and declared “I understand there is an election for class president when I finish. I will cut this short and just say, after you vote, come over to my house for ice cream and cake”

Jimmy won in a landslide.

When you believe in Socialism and have been promoting it for more than 60 years in a Capitalist System, you get stupid elected officials like Lee. All this talk of raising the min. wage has to do with the fact that is all Obama has created so the need for government healthcare for the believers.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the people discover they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the canidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy--to be followed by a dictatorship.” ― Alexander Fraser Tytler

At $26 an hour....a McDonalds menu-meal (typically $6.99 now), would end being around $15.00. A coke would run $2 minimum. A Pizza Hut large pizza would likely run near $50.

You see....I’m for this massive increase, because we’d finally automate the whole service sector....bring McDonalds staff on a typical shift to three people (basically ensuring the automated system works, and greeting people). Within one single year, we’d release at least half the minimum wage people at the burger franchise operations back into their true passion....sitting and living under bridges. I should note....those who do remain working...will suddenly discover that taxes are greatly increased, and they can’t really afford much of anything for apartments, and they will eventually discover under-the-bridge lifestyles as well.

Good thought, but I suspect what would really happen is that these takers would be plugged into all of the alphabet agency public assistance programs and would get food, housing, and entertainment paid for by the few remaining real tax paying workers in exchange for voting a few times each for the Rat candidates.
