Obama Biographer: 'The World Seems to Disappoint Him'
Weekly Standard ^ | 8:11 AM, May 6, 2014 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 05/06/2014 5:38:16 AM PDT by Hoodat

David Remnick, an Obama biographer and the editor of the New Yorker, said this morning on national TV that President Obama is disappointed in the world:

(Remnick on Morning Joe)

"The profile [of President Obama] that I published in the New Yorker was somebody that eerily, eerily seemed to be claiming himself--it was a sense of not giving up, but of deep frustration--that was the profile that I published in the New Yorker. Somebody frustrated and disappointed," said Remnick, who has proven to be deeply sympathetic to this president.

"And that's what's frustrating to me sometimes about Obama is that the world seems to disappoint him," he continued to laughter from others on the TV set. "Republicans disappoint him, Bashar al-Assad disappoints him, Putin as well. And the fighting spirit sometimes is lacking in the performative aspects of the presidency."

But that hasn't kept Remnick from souring on Obama. "Do I think that at the end of eight years this will go down as a terrible presidency? I don't. You do. I don't. I think an enormous amount has been achieved."

Disappointed? Yes, if you believe him to be a naive little gadfly, perplexed because his liberal toolkit just ain't working the way he thought it would.

And many will cling to that image because to think that this is all deliberate is too disturbing to bear.

If there were any real achievements to crow about, you can be certain he would have touted each one of them to build his case to the reader. The fact that he couldn’t document such successes speaks volumes.

HRC supporters are going to use the exact same tactics; claim vague accomplishments without citing any specific evidence. They will rely on a sympathetic media to echo claims of her “greatness”.

I’ve referred to him as President Belshazzar. He loves the perks, loathes the job. Nothing but parties.

If you read the biographies of the inventive geniuses of the past 200 years (Edison, Carnegie, Ford, Jobs, others) you will find that they each found they learned the most from their own spectacular failures, picked themselves up and developed some new product or service that addressed the problems form the failures. If you don’t risk enough to fail (or recognize that you have failed) there is no way you can adjust to a better future.

Who isn’t disappointed with the state of world affairs ? His narcissism aside, some of us prefer to deal with reality, rather than fantasy. That pretty much sums up Dem philosophy.

He's a victim of his own "success".

The world has disappointed him by letting him "get away with it" in all that he does.

He probably isn't aware of this or doesn't understand it if he is, but there is an important part of him that wants him to be stopped, that wants to be caught, to be discovered and found out.

Unless and until that happens, he can't help but be disappointed by a world he can't possibly respect.

Pride and hubris are double edged blades and, while he's dodged their obvious edges, he's being subtly cut and sliced by their less obvious.

Obama only needs to,,, eliminate those who stand in his way of making a peaceful and perfect world.

Reminds me of another Dicktator from the 20th Century that had dreams of a perfect "race" - IMHO the same thing applies here in more ways than one.

Yes, and the delusion stems from absolute arrogance. This is why debating liberals/commies/progressives/WHATEVER is pointless.

“...why debating liberals/commies/progressives/WHATEVER is pointless...”

Well... it’s not pointless... it’s FUN to watch them lose what little minds they have left. I get a kick out of getting in their faces at every opportunity. Especially when it comes to guns.

Driving them batsh*t crazy should be a goal every one of us should aspire to.

Just for the pure entertainment value, if nothing else.

Obama has actually exceeded my expectations ..... for the amount of destruction he could wreak on America, both domestically and abroad and he’s not finished yet. If he loses the Senate, he’ll be in petulant, temper tantrum mode and no telling what he’ll do. I concur with Rush ... I wish he’d FAILED.

I think an enormous amount has been achieved.

I believe everything that he has accomplished including healthcare is unconstitutional.

Obama has given up the charade of being his own biographer. Success and filthy lucre have enabled him to hire professional liars. He still can’t get comfortable with himself and his life.

I don’t know of any Obama “achievements.”

His foreign policy is simply chaos. Nothing new or constructive - the disruption and chaos of Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and the general decline of US influence in the world

His domestic policy is simply a mishmash of promoting dependency, victimhood, gay/transgender, etc... through the bureaucratic force of the Federal Government. Obamacare is one bit of legislation with his name on it. All of this will be swept away with the slightest changes in America’s political atmosphere

Obama is a guy who has heard false praise all his life, he could do no wrong. You know, like a current player in the NFL.

The current train wreck we have now is the product of it.
