California Voter Information Guide - No fraud here (Vanity)
Super7man

I just received my California voter information guide and noticed that it is NOT required to provide identification when registering to vote. BUT you MAY be asked to show ID the first time you vote.

See the attached image of what suffices as a legitimate ID at the time of voting.

No opportunity for fraud here. They have this thing really locked down. You would not believe what they put me through here to get my Health Club ID.

Not that it matters much to me, as we now have an open primary in California and there will only be Democrats on the ballot in the general election.

If it’s an open primary, then get the AIP folks to vote. Do they have a contest in their party? Are the factions still fighting?

If it’s an open primary, then don’t list party affiliation.

It is listed on the ballot, just as “Party Preference”. Cindy Sheehan is running for governor with a party preference of “Peace and Freedom”.

Then you wouldn't have Mariner to kick around anymore!

Then you wouldn’t have Free Republic of Fresno, California anymore.

My 100 year old mother died last month in CA. Should I notify voter registration, or will that just make it easier for someone to vote in her place?

I am sorry for your loss.

I don’t think it matters either way. Anybody can vote here, anytime.

That is not all I received. I also got a Census Form except now they want me to do it online. I refuse so they will be sending me a paper form to fill out from the American Community Survey.

This came as a result of California State Senator Abel Maldonado (RINO). For Abel's vote on Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's 2009-2010 budget (the only Republican vote for it), Abel got two ballot initiatives put on the ballot by the Democrat majority, one of the initiatives being the "top two" primary, where the top two vote-getters, regardless of party, would face off in the general election.

This was his attempt to make it easier for Abel to make it to a general election if he didn't have to face a Republican-only vote. He ended losing anyway in the next general election to Gavin Newsom for Lt. Governor. Now mind you that Abel was appointed as a Lt. Governor prior by Arnold Schwarzenegger as reward for Abel's vote on the budget, so Abel was the incumbent (albeit an appointed incumbent).

For what it's worth, the CAGOP had opposed Prop 14 (the top two primary initiative).

Sincerest condolences on your loss.

To answer your question, notify the Registrar of Voters of the county she was registered in.

Even if they are able to verify her passing quickly, keep in mind this is the ROV’s busy season and rosters will be printed shortly if not already, so she’ll likely remain on the roster index for the June 3 election, but after that she likely will be removed by the November election.
