JOE SCARBOROUGH: Let's talk about yesterday. Lois Lerner. Let's stop talking about Benghazi. I think you'd agree with me that we should move on. The House voted yesterday, The New York Times' Jeremy Peters is reporting, to find Lois Lerner in contempt. What's your take on that? You compared it to McCarthyism.
REP. ELIJAH CUMMINGS (D-MD): Oh, I'm sorry. I thought I was talking to somebody else.
SCARBOROUGH: If I have you here, why would I want to talk to anybody else, Elijah?
REP. CUMMINGS: I thought you were talking to Jeremy. Let me say this. Again, this is the first time since the 1950s and '60s that a committee has stripped somebody of their Fifth Amendment right and then at the same time went on to a criminal contempt citation. And this is unprecedented except in the McCarthy era, and even in that era it failed. So, you know, I wonder where we're going here, Joe. It seems as if there has been an effort to -- again, my argument was not that I don't want to hear what Miss Lerner had to say. I really do want to hear it. But you know what? There's something that is more significant than that. And that is upholding the constitutional rights of every single American.

The left is clueless as to how the 5th Amendment privilege is waived in the real world. But, thats just bothersome details. Lerner blew it big time by opening her mouth first.
What a gasbag this guy is. Every time I see him I’m reminded of an mold turn of the century football....an antique football with a mouth.
I hope that the citizens take this seriously and that any citizen that sees Cummings can place him under citizens arrest using any and up to what the feds can use for force. This tyranny against citizens deserves to be hit in the face with maximum force.
OMG, to think I used to live in this asshat’s district. Elijah Cummings is an embarrasment to this country. Certainly SHOULD be an embarrasment to any “person of color” who wants to be taken seriously as a thinking human being and not a stereotype.

How could he have played the race card? Lois Lerner is not Black. At least not as far as one can see . As you point out, she did it to herself. She thought as an uber-Liberal she could sidestep the Constitution, get up on her soapbox and then take the 5th. I know it’s not going to happen, but it would be nice to see her sitting in jail for a few months. She could call in Martha Stewart and they could make cookies for the other inmates.
She has no legal standing to invoke the Fifth in any case. She was being questioned about her actions as a government official; that is, as an employee of the branch of government that pays the bills, the House.
LOL! There is nothing sadder than a black man stuck on the plantation.
