Why We Are Backing Ben Sasse In The Nebraska GOP Senate Race (primary is Tuesday!)

Nebraska’s GOP primary election is Tuesday, May 13. The increasingly negative GOP Senate primary has caused us to go back and review exactly why we backed Ben Sasse for the Republican nomination, and to conclude that we had it right back in January when we first came out for Sasse.

We said then that we were backing Ben Sasse because he would fight the Ruling Class in Washington, DC.

From what we’ve seen of the negative campaigns run by his Ruling Class opponents, career politician Shane Osborn and liberal Republican banker Sid Dimsdale, the Ruling Class must believe Ben Sasse when he says he is going to fight for the people of Nebraska and the values and interests of “flyover country.”

When Ben Sasse announced his Senate bid he told Breitbart’s Alexander Marlow, "As someone who's not a career politician, I wanted to introduce myself to Nebraskans in a way that would explain what this campaign is about… DC is a sick, dysfunctional place. I've seen it up close. We're going to lose our country if we don't act quickly."

Ben Sasse is whip-smart and he understands that one of the reasons why Obamanomics is destroying the American economy is what economists call “rent-seeking” by Washington’s Ruling Class — political insiders who are devoted to tapping into the economic value created by someone else, rather than creating new value.

Sasse is the only candidate in the Nebraska GOP Senate race who has talked about breaking the “Iron Triangle” of Washington’s rent-seeking bureaucrats, lobbyists, and politicians and how that must be a priority if we are to save what is left of American exceptionalism.

DC is a sick, dysfunctional place. I've seen it up close. We're going to lose our country if we don't act quickly.

So how will he change that?

Mike Johanns is a retiring senator from Nebraska and this race is about who will replace him.

Johanns is probably the most popular politician in Nebrasaka and a former governor. His is still young and could have easily won this seat if he wanted to.

Sasse, much like the rest of the teaparty, talks a lot, but shows little ability to do what they say which is to “reform DC”

The other Nebraska senator Deb Fisher is also teaparty, also promised reform and has so far made zero impact because of Harry Reid.

“So how will he change that?”

My point exactly.

The retiring incumbent, Mike Johanns is as moral a guy as you will ever see and he had little effect. Deb Fisher, the other nebraska senator is teaparty and she has had no effect either.

The only thing that might work is a republican sweep of all 14 contested races. DC might wake up a little.

Ted Cruz has not made zero impact. Mike Lee has not made zero.

Sasse has an intellect which is in the same universe as Cruz and Lee.

He might be able to make an impact, especially now that the numbers of exceptional Tea Party senators is increasing.

This is the only way to do it. Bring them one by one.

“Ted Cruz has not made zero impact. Mike Lee has not made zero.”

For 98 percent of the people in the US and probably 70% in Utah, they would say “Mike who ?, are you talking about that black guy at Knick games ?”.

For 70% of the voters, it is “Ted Cruz ? Who is he ?” except in Texas of course.

Well, aren’t you the little optimist. Defeatism & lack of endurance has never won anything.
