GOP will start Benghazi probe without Dems after Nancy Pelosi rejects committee rules
The Washington Examiner ^ | May 9, 2014 | Susan Ferrechio, chief congressional correspondent

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has rejected the terms of a GOP-created select committee on Benghazi, but Republicans are moving ahead without them.

A top aide to House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, told the Washington Examiner that the Benghazi Select Committee met today for the first time and plans to move ahead with its investigation, despite the missing Democrats.

"We made a fair offer," Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said. "We hope they appoint Democrats. At this point, it's time to get to work."

Pelosi, D-Calif., rejected the panel's terms in letter to Boehner that was in response to GOP proposal about the select panel would operate.

Democrats say they are concerned it will not allow their party to participate fairly in the investigation, which will involve subpoenas and viewing of classified materials related to the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.....

Boehner should appoint some of the democrats who crossed the party line to vote for the committee to serve on it until he receives further notice from Pull-Lousy

I think Trey Gowdy and the committee as it stands now, can/will do the job. No Dems required to obfuscate, obstruct, throw temper tantrums, etc.

If I remember correctly Hillary Clinton was not sworn the first time she testified. They need to make sure she is sworn and see how her answers change. Especially if they have the evidence that Trey Gowdy says he has.

Again, I reiterate, Republicans need to keep the focus on the Leave No Man Behind aspect of this until it takes them to the next level.

Excellent. This will be an investigation not theatre; we need a real investigation because the DOJ is a joke, and there is no chance of a special prosecutor. I would imagine that most of the work will be done away from the cameras. If they find any smoking guns, there will be plenty of time for a show.

Dead Nancy,

Is it not unfair to deny the Democrat's constituency any representation at all into this important matter ?

When she comes begging to put Democrats on the committee, and she WILL come begging to put Democrats on the committee, tell her she can after she goes on national TV and apologizes for being a jackass to the families of the four dead Americans.

Boehner responds to Nancy’s stubborness, and sings the U2 hit “With or Without You” as he wrings a wet hankie.

Show ‘em that you mean business, Nanzi. Boycott the House altogether. Go home and refuse to vote on anything.

Can’t say I disagree. Just mention the word “Watergate” and eyes light up.

The funny thing is, nobody can really explain what Watergate involved, but they know that Evil Tricky Dickie Nixon resigned so it must have been really bad.

Of course it wasn’t FOUR DEAD AMERICANS bad. The Media is complicit in the Public’s ignorance.

Third Rate Burglary vs leaving four people to die at the hands of Jihadist’s. What difference does it make?

I employ a new Tactic now. In polite conversation, Hillary Clinton is referred to as the Butcher of Benghazi. That leads to questions and answers. Hillary killed four times as many people as the other Democrat Senator record holder Ted Kennedy (Worm Food-MA).

Another Hillary accomplishment, giving her one in total.

People responsible for the attack were discovered and are still roaming free. What has the US done to bring them to trial?

Just how long did it take CNN to get to the Benghazi location? What about the FBI...how long did they take again?

Sheer desperation. It’s been a bad week for the dems, about to get even worse for them.

My fear is that the republicans will ‘bend over backwards’ to appear to be fair. They need to set aside decorum and plow the facts.

So far so good.

But I'm afraid the republicans will have to earn trust every step of the way.

On the one hand, among the many Official Positions of the US Military are “to run to the sound of the guns, “ and “ - - we leave no man behind. - - - “.

On the other hand, the US Commander in Chief’s Official Policy has been, and is now, to “Lead from Behind.”

Which is the hand that offers the most protection to those we hire to be put in harm’s way to protect us?

IMHO, the two hands are mutually exclusive.

After THE TRUTH is revealed by Trey Gowdy’s Select Committee, severe punishment must be meted out that will serve as a deterrent to any future Commander in Chief who tries TO MAKE SURE THAT IT DOES HAPPEN AGAIN.

To cease to severely punish the guilty, is to cease to have reason for Law and Order.

Currently, B. Hussein Obama is Guilty of Treason until proven Innocent.

No need to flame me, as ONLY in US politics is someone Guilty until proven Innocent.

The rest of us must comply with the Law of the Land: Tell the Truth, accept responsibility for one’s actions, and comply with THE LAW.

This is in glaring contrast to what the Obama Administration’s, (and the Democrats who still support Obama), Rules of Conduct have actually been for the last 5 years as follows:

LIE, DENY AND REFUSE TO COMPLY.

The choice is clear for the Democrats: seek the Truth with Select Benghazi Committee Chairman Gowdy, or continue to embrace the CULT OF OBAMANATION: Lie, deny and refuse to comply.

BTW, Democrats in the US House: ALL y’all are up for re-election this November - - - - .

Tick-tock, Democrats, tick-tock - - - - .

The ‘Rats have merely calculated that they can obstruct more effectively from outside the committee.

“My fear is that the republicans will ‘bend over backwards’ to appear to be fair.”

I agree. Even if they do, the media and democrats (but I repeat myself) will twist facts to blame Repubs for previous Rat intransigence. I swear we cant win with this press, so quit trying and start calling them out on their advocacy.
