It seems she had a girl friend who was in need of a few thousand dollars to complete ‘her’ sex reassignment hormonal therapy. It made quite a story for summer reading. Weeks later, nobody ever brought the subject up again. Poof! the topic was gone, just like the money, just like the floating bale of ballots.

Because there's not enough polling booths, even if only 10% go to vote, of course there's going to be crowds. Heck, with that few polling booths the Russians could have even paid the crowds to vote, and then taken said photos and video to prove your point.
