Complete Title: Video: Secret Service detail pulled off presidential post to spy on foe of … the director’s secretary

The latest scandal at the US Secret Service goes beyond alcohol binges and unpaid prostitutes, and directly into the realm of the abuse of power. When the personal assistant of then-Director Mark Sullivan got into a dispute with a neighbor, one with restraining orders and considerably tense feelings, Sullivan ordered agents assigned to a presidential detail to shift their attention to surveillance of the neighbor. The neighbor, a 22-year employee of the FBI, tells the Washington Post that she knew she was being watched, but couldn’t believe it when told who was watching her and her family in the rural area of La Plata, Maryland:

-SNIP-

Top Secret Service officials ordered members of a special unit responsible for patrolling the White House perimeter to abandon their posts over at least two months in 2011 in order to protect a personal friend of the agency’s director, according to three people familiar with the operation.

it’s Obama’s personal government to use as he sees fit, isn’t it? And all his cronies too, right? They are in charge they can do anything they want.

Because George Bush or something.

More from the article:

"Regardless of jurisdiction, Sullivan took it upon himself to misdirect agency assets for his own personal purposes, and in the process illegally surveil a citizen who had done nothing to warrant the agency’s attention. On top of that, the assets in question were assigned to the White House, which means that the ability to protect the President, his family, and his staff was impacted in order to intimidate Sullivan’s secretary’s neighborhood foes. And on top of that, the agency knew full well that it was illegal

Even worse, the Inspector General of Homeland Security apparently knew of this abuse of power and did nothing about it

When federal agencies decide for themselves to intervene for personal reasons and get away with it, we cease being citizens under the governance of law and become subjects under the rule of whim..."

It does seem like the Secret Service is not what it used to be. I used to have respect for them. It appears it is just another Obama thugocracy now.

Could it be exactly who is serving? Could Obama have selected the team, or someone else corrupt done the selection? I can’t believe they were always like this.

Thinking of the agent protecting the Vice President in House of Cards, hand picked and placed into the agency because he was a trusted corrupt person. (No spoilers please, I’m only a few episodes into season 2)

What special kind of retard must you be to misdirect agency resources to go after a 22-year employee of THE FREAKIN' FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION?

Did they not think that'd come back to tear 'em a new ass?

House of Cards is a must for understanding Washington DC sleaze, corruption, power mad people and throwing around millions and billions on useless projects. It is 25% exaggeration and 75% dead on! I saw both seasons.

Everyone in it is power mad. Almost everyone even people who run ostensible charities (NGOs) to improve the 3rd world. Lust for money/sex/power is what powers Washington DC.

JugEars gave them the green light to sink down low. Fish rots from the head down. JugEars created this atmosphere of abuse where Federal workers can free lance on the job and can do whatever the heck they want. Include the IRS and BLM

Based on the series of scandals and disasters in the SS under Obama, you would think extra caution would be the rule. It is obvious that something has changed about the caliber of people in this agency. Corruption. Incompetence. Obama.
