Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio said Monday he is nudging former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to run for the Republican nomination to be president.
Though he stopped short of endorsing anyone early in the process, Boehner named Bush, son of President George H. W. Bush and brother of President George W. Bush, as a favorite.
Weve got a lot of good candidates out there. If you look historically, our best candidates have come from the ranks of governors, of former governors, and yes, Jeb Bush is my friend, I think hed make a great president, and Ive been nudging him for some time, Boehner said while speaking in San Antonio to a luncheon sponsored by several area business groups.
Boehner also was asked about Ohio Gov. John Kasich, whom he called a friend and golfing partner, but he said he would not feel any obligation to support him simply because he is from the same state.
Well let them all sort it out. Im not endorsing anybody, he said.
Boehner, in Texas on a fundraising swing this week while the House is on recess, also weighed in on the new special select committee on the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya, and on Republican priorities on a long-stalled immigration overhaul.
On the Benghazi committee, the speaker said the panels work would not be impeded if Democrats decide to boycott.
On immigration, Boehner said most House Republicans support an overhaul of the immigration system, as long as the work is done step-by-step, with the border secured first.
Boehner said House Republicans dont trust President Barack Obama to enforce laws as they are written and passed on Capitol Hill and suggested the White House needs to take steps to repair that relationship.
Losers
Lock up Lois you useless POS. I think you like the idea of the IRS targeting conservatives, don’t cha?
What’s next, the GOPe just literally spit on us?
Bone Head.
If they don’t believe in “Republic”an principles, why don’t they just go of and form their own party? Maybe call it the Spineless Weasel Fascist Enabler Party. “National Socialist” fits but I think it was already used.
Boehner needs to go, along with all the other elitist Republicans. I am so over them. How about a chorus of “It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to...”
Is it Jeb’s “turn” to run? I’m thinking it’s still Bob Dole’s “turn” or John McCain’s “turn”.
Electile Dysfunction - sure fits the Speaker
vaudine
“Is it Jebs turn to run? Im thinking its still Bob Doles turn or John McCains turn.
That concept will be how Dems snatch victory from the jaws of defeat if Jeb obliges; imagine it played on every TV & radio station, and in every newspaper, from nomination until election.
The Bush name is radioactive. Jeb would be laughing stock.
Listen up, Boehner: if you a-holes succeed in saddling us with another RINO -- ESPECIALLY Bush -- you will be astonished at how many sit out this one.
I guarantee that I won't waste my time or vote this time.
No more Booshies, Klintoons, and Soetoros. Effe them all. 28 years of WASTE.
Jeb Bush could win nomination if Christy stays out.
Jeb will be assured of a win if 2 or more conservatives stay in the race past Iowa, NH & SC. Just like in 2012, Newt & Ricky fought to the bitter end and cleared the path for the moderate from Mass.
I will NOT,NOT,NOT,NOT EVER vote for any Bush!!!!
dirty stinkin’ John Boehner, dirty stinkin’ John Boehner and Jeb Bush too. backstabers everyone and they will destroy us as well. We lower these people taxes and look at what they do to us.
If Jeb wins ANY primary I will cease being a republican..
Because “the Party” is not conservative anymore.. in obvious ways..
Probably merely a tool of democrats..
the hubris that chases Jeb Bush for office.. is arrogance..
On a scale Ted “the swimmer” Kennedy would be shy of accepting..
To vote republican THEN... would be in your face treason..
I know.. it probably already is..
But who would know.. the voting booths have been rigged for a long time..
The “Matrix” is live and well in american politics..
