As the Benghazi investigation heats up in the U.S. House, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, called for a joint select committee on Monday.
Appearing on Hannity, Cruz told Sean Hannity that truth and accountability are needed in the investigation.
Cruz introduced a resolution eight months ago, co-sponsored by 25 senators and requiring unanimous consent, to hold a joint select committee to investigate the attack. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., was the only one to object. When he asked a second time Monday, Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., objected.
Menendez, chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, admitted he had no idea if President Obama had been told about what was going on during the attack, Cruz said, or if there was anything he could have done to save the four Americans who died.
The Democrats are all reading from the same partisan talking points, the senator said, adding that he had ten basic questions he developed that have not been answered to his satisfaction.
If this were a law enforcement investigation, it would be called obstruction of justice, he said.

What makes Cruz think that the House Republicans want a joint committee?
Ya know, if Senate dems and former State Dept families were to be slaughtered, and the murderers weren’t brought to justice within 2 years, I would have no problems asking that investigations be shut down and asking what difference could it possible make now? That’s exactly what democrats are doing to the families of the Benghazi slaughter.
Cruz should leave it in the House. For someone who is supposed to know how government works. Plus he can’t seem to get his Senate a majority and I really wonder about November 2014. When you have the majority then maybe you can make decisions.
Where are the survivors?? Cruz should be helping the House find the survivors so they can testify. Not trying to bring in another committee that would be stacked with Dems to counteract the Republicans in the House! FIND THE SURVIVORS!
