Plastic bag ban advances in Assembly

A proposal to phase out the use of single-use plastic bags in California grocery stores was approved Wednesday by a key Assembly panel despite heavy lobbying efforts by the plastics trade industry, which warned it would cost the state thousands of jobs.

The measure was approved by the Natural Resources Committee, whose chairman, Wesley Chesbro (C-Arcata), talked about visiting a remote island in the northern Pacific only to find a line of plastic particles littering the beach.

Maybe to some people the plastic bags are single use only, Not in my household.

Now, are they talking about the white plastic bags we get at the check out counter, or those flimsy clear plastic bags at the produce section?

This law has already been enacted in several counties in the San Francisco Bay Area. For these county-level laws, in addition to banning throwaway plastic shopping bags, stores must also charge 10 cents per traditional brown paper bag (with the exception of those on food stamps, who still get their paper bags for free).

The idea is to get everyone to bring their own re-usable shopping bags to the store with them. I love living in a stinking communist paradise!!

That's no exaggeration. When the greenies were crying about the trees and pushing these infernal plastic bags, I would notice how many of them were snarled up in fences and trees, or just blowing across parking lots like tumbleweeds. The bags, not the environuts.

I thought yeah, these idiots sure love the environment all right, a wasteland of trash is just fine so long as it makes them feel good and they can remain oblivious to reality.

By the same idiots who wanted us to ban PAPER bags (to save trees) just 20 years ago.

We need SUSTAINABLE bags (cloth, re-usable)- it would be SO Agenda 21~!!

They should make bags out of the by products of hemp. Open a factory in Colorado.

The cheap crud thin plastic bags (made from recycled milk cartons) are not reusable. They even fall apart getting the groceries from the check out to the car to the home.

So double-bag them then.

Nothing beats plastic bags, especially when you buy meats and produce. Plus you can carry them all at once and not make return trips back to the car. Then you can reuse them as lunch bags or to dispose of kitty litter, for example.

This ban is designed to hurt the poor who use mass transit.

So; your saying we should make grocery bags out of the tanned hides of green enviro nazis?
I think it is an outstanding idea, but I don’t think they breed fast enough.
Most of them are fags, lesbos or some other type of weird bark eating metrosexual.
Guess we could force breed them on some remote island some where, like Pitcairn Island, it’s far enough away from anything that they could not escape.
