What Jim Caviezel Said To Women Who Had Abortions Made Him Break Down and Cry
Life News ^ | May 15, 2014 | Steven Ertelt

“The Passion of the Christ” actor Jim Caviezel has a message about God’s mercy and grace — especially for women who have had abortions. Prepare to be changed.

Caviezel, famed for his role as Christ in The Passion of the Christ, and currently starring as the leading man in TV’s Person of Interest, is no stranger to being, well, different in Hollywood. From his publicly Catholic faith to his committed pro-life views, he stands in stark contrast to the typical movie star.

Caviezel’s personal life is even more remarkable than his incredible on-screen talent. Taking the road less traveled, Jim and his wife Kerri have adopted two children from China, both of whom had special needs.

Their first adopted child, Bo, came to the Caviezels after a traumatic first five years of life. The little boy had a brain tumor and had been abandoned before he was taken in by an orphanage and subsequently adopted by his loving parents. Bo is a remarkably boisterous child, and with the love he has received from Jim and Kerri, it is hard to believe that just a few short years ago he was struggling to survive in a hostile environment.

When asked how becoming a father had affected him, Caviezel told Catholic Digest, “Even though they’re adopted, it’s as strong as any instinct. That’s what blew me away. I always thought if I adopted that I wouldn’t have the same feeling [as I would] if they were genetically my own children. Nothing could be further from the truth.”

The actor told Catholic Digest in 2009 that being pro-life is more important to him than his career. He told the digest, “How are we so arrogant to think the 51.5 million babies who have died in this country… Look, I am for helping women. I just don’t see abortion as helping women. And I don’t love my career that much to say, ‘I’m going to remain silent on this.’”

My older sister...died at the age of 49..of a brain aneurysm.

She also got pregnant at the age of 15 or 16...back in the late 60's. I don't know all the details...and never was told everything. But I know my dad and my sister flew south across the border..and my sister had an abortion.

My sister wasn't a sociopath. She was just a kid...really.

You can say want you want to say....so be it.

I don’t know about sociopaths but it is wrong and it is murder of a human life. I hope she regretted it enough to repent and seek salvation.

I don't know...about the details.

My sister probably never knew I knew of it....

I don't think she had a choice in the matter frankly.

I'm sure she had many regrets. As I'm quite sure you and me do also..............

“You can say want you want to say....so be it.”

I was thinking about the people who have had not one, not two but several abortions. Then there’s the woman recently in the news who filmed hers so she could tell people what a positive experience it is.

There was a time before abortions when you could adopt children and it didn’t cost $30,000. Why does it cost $30,000 to adopt but $695 to abort?

I am sorry for the pain your sister and family must have suffered.

Sorry to hear about your sister. Life can be tough.

When I became active in the national right to life movement, I met and consulted with the leaders at the time-- John Wilke, Wanda Franz, Olivia Gans, Carol Everett, Vince Rue and others. They all were serious and committed Christians.

One thing we all agreed upon immediately was that no one should ever presume to sit in judgment on a woman for having an abortion or even thinking about having one.

When I read the hatefulness of the self-righteous around here I wonder when they might decide to try a little Christianity themselves.

A lot of people think like that. I don't understand that line of thinking but perhaps it's because they didn't adopt...

Thanks....I was just a 10 year old kid. I didn't know nothing from nothing....

My mom and dad...and my sister surely went thru hell though.>p> I was shielded from all of that, really. Although my mom chose to tell me about a few years later...

Looking back I could see she needed to tell someone...and that was me. I think it tore my mom and dad up....Funny how people cope with things.

My sister and I never spoke of it...ever.

FWIW-

Thanks....for that post.

My sister died in 2000....and I think of her fairly often. This thread and comments made me think of her....

I'm always torn...by folks that don't see people like themselves.

Thanks.........

The first couple seasons of POS it was consistently in the Top 5. Then they killed off the female lead and the series has gradually lost viewers. I think it’s in it’s final days. Maybe one more season. When it was Caviezel saving the day with the help of the female cop it was a much better show. The script writers seem to running out of ideas now.

Maybe they'll write in another female cop.

He’s one of two leading characters in the show. His views are well known. He’s not going to get bumped off “Person of Interest”.

And besides, the girls LOVE HIM!

And by girls, I mean old ladies like me.
