Feinstein: Enviros no help on California drought
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | May 15, 2014 | By Carolyn Lochhead

Sen. Dianne Feinstein will try to fast-track farm-friendly drought legislation through the Senate over the objections of environmentalists, who the senator complains have done nothing to help her adapt California's aging water system to deal with climate change and the addition of millions of thirsty residents.

Feinstein's bill alarms both environmentalists and Bay Area House Democrats, who fear she would tilt California water policy away from the state's devastated salmon runs.

Asked about opposition from environmental groups, Feinstein said, "Well, that's really too bad, isn't it? I would be very happy to know what they propose. ... I have not had a single constructive view from environmentalists of how to provide water when there is no snowpack."

Her hubby is a lawyer for China

Shrimp Boy was a big-time SF gangsta but got off and then joined gummint, doing all kinds of great “mentoring”.

Leland Yee was offering to import machine-guns and MANPADS...

WOW

Indeed.

Feinstein's a liberal communist of the old school. One who still believed people had a right to make a living and, um, grow food. Thin gruel, but it still sets her apart from the new left.

someone brought her to her senses? or is it because it is now biting too close to home?

She doesn’t give a crap about farmers, it is the wineries and the almond growers that represent billions in exports for California now at risk.

Perhaps she received a briefing on the effects ‘food riots’ would have on her and other democrats reelection chances in the future?

The further left they force the pendulum the further right it will swing when it is finally released.

In “A Short History of Nearly Everything” the author, Bill Bryson, states that of all the things that have ever lived on Earth, most, 99.99% are extinct. You know, if the snail darters, desert tortoises and California salmon become extinct, something else will take their place. What it means is the environment they needed to survive has changed. That clears the path for something that is adapted to the new environment. If it comes down to all the farmers in California or the salmon, I vote farmers.

DiFi's about DiFi's net worth.

She went to DC to do good.

And she's done very well indeed.

Diane, I have a suggestion. Let the farmers use the water from Hetch Hetchy for the crops or even better, tear it down. If it gets torn down I will stand back to watch what SF will do without any water. That could produce a reality check.
