Eric Shinseki’s Meaningless Claim That He ‘Takes Responsibility’
National Review ^ | May 16, 2014 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 05/16/2014 7:43:57 AM PDT by george76

The abominable callousness demonstrated at the Department of Veterans Affairs is deadly serious, and warrants more than an all-too-familiar claim of “responsibility” from Eric Shinseki:

...

Of course, Shinskei is just echoing his boss and other members of the administration:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s declaration that she takes responsibility for the failure to secure our facilities and personnel in Libya — with no word on any actual consequence of this failure — is the most recent example. But the approach began from the very start of this administration.

...

Discussing the national debt in Virginia on Aug. 6, 2009, Obama said, “I don’t mind being responsible. I expect to be held responsible for these issues, because I’m the president.” We’ve added $4.4 trillion in new debt since he said those words.

* After ObamaCare passed, the president admitted he hadn’t kept his promises on how the legislation would be handled... Obama said. “I take responsibility.”

...

The new way to avoid taking responsibility is to tell the world you’re “taking responsibility.”

The only upside to this sordid and criminal veterans scandal is that Shinseki is no longer a general of the U. S. Army....and no longer U.S. Army Chief of Staff. Thank God!

He is a liberal/leftist elitist through and through...and I doubt if he will resign his current sinecure because elitists just don't do that. They consider themselves to be untouchable because they are above the rest of us stupid peons.

I watched a video of him saying to the committee, "I'm mad as Hell!"

He said it with as much enthusiasm as, "I'd like medium starch with these shirts!"

I couldn't believe that anyone on that committee or in the audience even, didn't break out laughing their socks off!

Off, OFF, Damned Sarcasm!!!

Reminds me of

Begone Italians!

For those that don't remember we used to have a problem with italics being turned on by a poster who did not close them, which caused italics to be on for all the subsequent posters.

I think Shinseki’s the guy who, when he was Chief of Staff, decided all soldiers in the Army should be able to wear the black beret...

He is also the moron who called for the Army to dump it's tanks and return to armored cars, taking the Army back to WWI capability.

GtG

“I think Shinseki’s the guy who, when he was Chief of Staff, decided all soldiers in the Army should be able to wear the black beret...y’know, cuz it’s not fair that only the elite get to look dashing.”

Never trust anyone from Hawaii! It’s mostly a Japanese outpost of socialist/marxists. The Japanese outnumber the real Hawaiians by a wide margin. Just look at who’s running the government outside of their nutgall governor, who was born in Buffalo, NY (another westward migrating Commie who passed us by in California).

Gen. Mc Arthur said it best ...duty, honor, country and Shinseki hasn't done his duty and out of honor should resign for for the good of the country and the failures on his watch. The VA is a mess and has been for decades. The fossilized bureaucracies that run the VA need to cleaned out. However, as we have found out with the likes of Lois Lerner, it s next to impossible to fire these federal workers regardless of how they have failed in their jobs or even broken the law.

If Obama had any leadership he would have summarily fired the VA head in Phoenix and other VA centers when their wrong doing came to light. In private industry any employee that screwed up like this would quickly lose their job. Remember Reagan and the air traffic controllers?

And move on to replace Sebelius at HHS or Lerner at IRS

Yes, and not to mention the bogus POTUS.

It’s a convenient semantic trick, meant to give the appearance of being responsible without being responsible.

It smacks of the Albert Speer defense at the Nuremberg Trials, wherein he “took responsibility” as the Minister of Armamentsfor the slave labor and attending death toll in his war factories without actually admitting that he had any role in, or knowledge of, the policy at all.

It got him a 20-year sentence; Shinseki should get no less.
