Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough tore into the leadership at the New York Times on Friday morning for what he characterized as a misleading self-defense over the reasons for the firing of former Executive Editor Jill Abramson. He observed that the Times admitted that the pay discrepancy issue was a factor even after they denied it at first. The appearance of a cover-up on this issue led Scarborough’s co-hosts to predict a backlash against the paper and even a wave of cancelled subscriptions from female subscribers.
Reading from the latest piece in the New Yorker, Scarborough noted that the Times confessed that their earlier statements about the firing of Abramson were incorrect and that her complaints about pay discrepancy were a factor in her dismissal. “It’s a stunning story,” Scarborough observed. “Stunning mismanagement.”

“The most damning blow for the men and the women is that the Times leadership put out statements that just weren’t truthful,” Scarborough concluded. The New York Times lied trying to cover up their own mess.”

Given that Joe has joined Mika in calling for yet another federal law (a Dem bill) to get women to sue employers over their pay, its hard for me to take him serious in this.
Not the mention that fact that she is a lib herself.
Things won’t change in the MSM until its every branch is seen to be dishonest and a waste of time as an information source for ordinary people.
It goes back farther - at least until Walter Duranty and his coverup of Stalin’s genocide of the kulaks.

I can’t stand Abramson, but oddly enough, she was letting a few slightly opposing viewpoints creep onto the pages of the Times. I don’t read it every day, and in fact, I usually only read it (the print edition) when I’m in NY, which now is only a few weeks per year.
But the last time I was there, I definitely noticed a difference (a couple of good feature articles that did not take the Obama point of view) and I actually thought the paper was getting more interesting.
I betcha this new guy is as PC as they come.

First, the NYT doesn't value honesty in its stories, so why would we expect its leadership to be truthful?
Second, the NYT and MSM in general believes that Democrats and those to support Democrats get to redefine what truth is. I mean let's look at so much of what Obama and Biden have actually said and how it has been “reshaped” by the media. The NYT was just redefining what its truth was.
No way. MY tagline should should be their masthead. That paper always makes me look smart.
Just following the White House game plan, of course..............it’s their only play in the playbook................
