David Perdue Fights Tax Blooper as Karen Handel Seizes New Momentum in Georgia Senate Race

Businessman David Perdue continues to lead the polls for the Georgia Senate race, but a recent blooper on taxes may shake up the race as the candidates prepare for Tuesday's election.

Perdue gave his opponents a golden opportunity after he agreed to not only cut spending, but raise revenues in an editorial board meeting with the Macon Telegraph.

In audio released by the Telegraph, Perdue chuckled after one of the members of the editorial board slyly noted that raising revenue was a “euphemism for some kind of tax increase.”

Handel said that by failing to clarify his position on taxes, he failed a key test.

“Most of the Republicans that I know, even the suggestion of raising taxes is no laughing matter,” she said in an interview with Breitbart News.

“That is David Perdue not being clear about who he is and what he believes in,” she added.

But Perdue, who signed the Americans For Tax Reform pledge a week earlier, claims he has no intention of raising taxes.

Purdue quickly clarified his position on Herman Cain’s radio show who agreed that the attacks and media stories were “misleading.”

“I’ve never supported tax increases to solve the debt crisis,” Perdue insisted.

Perdue is a global citizen who probably likes amnesty.

Hopefully Handel. I think Broun has blown it at this point.

I will be voting for Handle. She was good at GA SEC ST. and has a good track record for Ga. Perdue is an unknown which I don’t like one bit.

The answer to “increased revenue” and “tax increases” is simple.

They are mutual exclusives.

LOWERING the tax RATE, in every instance, results in greater REVENUE.

Revenue is keyed to overall business activity, and runs in near lockstep with a rise or fall in the economy.

While taxation is not the only criteria that may affect overall business activity, shifting the rates either higher or lower has a direct bearing on the degree of activity.

It all has to do with government, the collector of tax revenue, mostly staying the hell out of the way. When government is inserted too deeply into the management of business activity, then activity is slowed down, with a resulting drop in revenue.

But then, basic economics simply escapes some people.

I’m afraid if Perdue wins he will be Saxby’s 3rd term.

Purrrrrrdoooo promotes himself as an outsider and he is from a political family. What a bunch of baloney. He even took his opponent to task because she only has a high school education and was not as well travelled as he. What a smug pompous nabob Purdue is...
