OAKLAND (KPIX 5) — In the inner city, a health problem is making it harder for young people to learn. The Centers for Disease Control said 30 percent of inner city kids suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The CDC said these children often live in virtual war zones. Doctors at Harvard said they actually suffer from a more complex form of PTSD that some call “hood disease.” Unlike soldiers, children in the inner city never leave the combat zone. They often experience trauma, repeatedly. “You could take anyone who is experiencing the symptoms of PTSD, and the things we are currently emphasizing in school will fall off their radar. Because frankly it does not matter in our biology if we don’t survive the walk home,” said Jeff Duncan-Andrade, Ph.D. of San Francisco State University. In Oakland, about two thirds of the murders last year were actually clustered in East Oakland, 59 people killed.

That goes without saying, for many kids growing up in a world of death and drugs, and hookers, and violence.
When you have a couple of dozen of your friends die before you get out of your teens, and death is routine, even 2 or 3 a month at times, it has an effect that most children don’t experience.
Black leadership has done such a wonderful job since MLK. They should all be so proud.
Actually that is probably not true. If they grew up under those circumstances they would consider that normal and their stress levels would actually be lower. Using the Progressive evolution theories, they would evolve into a higher form of animal within several decades ... look at Chicago or other major cities for verification of this fact.

I can see where living in these “war zones” would make one insensitive to many things.
The solution is a dusk to dawn curfew and shoot on site those who break it. I would never really want that but something has to be done.
I feel some TAXPAYER PTSD coming on. Government gonna give me a check for that?
