Sidenote: Written by Harry Nilsson, this song from their debut album with Chuck Negron on lead vocal reached number 5 on the Billboard charts. Nilsson wrote the song after calling someone and getting a busy signal. He stayed on the line listening to the "beep, beep, beep, beep..." tone, while writing the song. The busy signal became the opening notes of the song. Floyd Sneed's use of off-beat cymbal eighth notes on the chorus' was unique to pop music of the era and drummers the world over hit the woodshed to develop the coordinated independence required to play the groove. Off-beat eighth notes remain a staple of every drummers bag of tricks. Thanks Floyd.
