Republican strategist Karl Rove suggested that he would like Congress to pass amnesty legislation during the lame-duck session of Congress, but he also said that immigration reform could get done "early next year."
President Barack Obama said that there were only "two to three months" left to pass amnesty legislation this year, but the CEOs of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers said this week that they hoped amnesty legislation could be the "final act" of the lame-duck session. Rove has courted pro-amnesty business executives for donations to his political action groups.
"The Speaker wants to get this thing done, but he wants to get it done in a way that unites the country," Rove said on Hugh Hewitt's radio show on Friday. "So my suspicion is weve got a better chance of getting comprehensive immigration reform done in the aftermath of the election or early next year." In fact, Rove expressed a preference "to get it done in the aftermath of the election."
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and other GOP leaders declared on Wednesday that Senate Republicans would "absolutely" try to pass amnesty legislation if Republicans win back control of the upper chamber next year.
Rove, while a White House adviser for President George W. Bush, helped Bush push for comprehensive immigration reform--a failed attempt that saw the conservative base revolt.
Rove stated that Obama "did not do himself or the cause of immigration reform any good by allowing" his confidant and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett to go to Las Vegas on Thursday and say that the White House had a "commitment" from House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) to act on amnesty legislation. Boehner's office denied that such a commitment was made, and Jarrett walked back her remarks on Twitter Friday.

I hope they are just fleecing the scum of the country club out of their money. But since these country clubbers really believe in amnesty then obviously they are not paying enough taxes. Some here will object but if they sell out then by God they should shell out. I used to support every business tax cut imaginable. I was naive enough to think they would recipricate towards me. Boy was I wrong.
Well since you insist, I believe at this point it is simply the work of greedy thieves in charge of what used to be America’s world-leading factories.
But I don’t suppose you wanted quite that blunt an answer.
:D
Go away, Karl, you traitorous clown.
Kind of like lords and kings in the middle ages. Which is what they think of themselves.

Excellent point!
I always left out the “magnificent” part and collided quite often with the “Day in the life of President Bush” worship society back then.
WTF! I hope their lame duck ends up in a Plane crash!
STFU Rove!! Americans are sick of Amnesty for the f'ing wetback Mexicans. Let's deport them, secure our borders, then let EDUCATED people in. If big business want illegals, fine them, we have Americans who are out of work.
No AMNESTY EVER!!!!!!! Did I make myself clear?
Neither major party is going to fix anything. They are beholden to the same paymasters. Simply put, you don’t get to national office if you aren’t on board with the oligarchs’ agenda because you can’t afford enough “speech” to compete. And if you think its bad now, just wait until the TPP passes.
I half believe our existing two parties are incapable of changing paths and bringing back American jobs.
However the landscape is changing drastically.
China now makes more than America makes. We still export more, but that is rapidly changing.
I believe public sentiment will (dramatically) change later on this year, when China takes the lead.
America needs to support America. American jobs. American factories.
We have more than built up China. Go into any store, in any state, any city throughout America.
Pick up anything from any aisle. Look at it.
“Made in China”.
Bring back American manufacturing.
All of you. American factories cannot be operating just in China.
China doesn’t allow American ownership.
So why are we there?
