Karen Handel: Democrats Can't Play 'War on Women' & 'Income Inequality' Cards on Me
breitbart.com ^ | 5/18/14 | Tony Lee

Former Georgia Secretary of State and Republican Senate candidate Karen Handel dared Democrats in Georgia to play the "war on women" and "income inequality" cards on her if she emerges as the party's nominee against Democrat Michelle Nunn.

Handel, whom former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin endorsed as a "fighter," has been battling for second place with Rep. Jack Kingston ahead of Tuesday's primary. Moderate businessman David Perdue has been the frontrunner, but if no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, the top two in Tuesday's primary will go to a runoff in July. Reps. Paul Broun and Phil Gingrey have failed to gain traction.

Handel, the only candidate who has had positive momentum in the last month, has surged into second and has even been within the margin of error of first in some recent polls. And she said that Palin, seen as the North Star of the conservative movement, "started the cavalcade" of conservatives, like Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, RedState's Erick Erickson, and Rick Santorum, who coalesced around her to help her combat her better funded challengers.

Appearing on Breitbart News Sunday with host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, the former Georgia Secretary of State said that even though the establishment is pouring in money into the race on behalf of Perdue and Kingston, the "grassroots and the people at the ground level need a voice "and they "cannot let the dollars drown out the voice of the people."

"I have a track record of putting conservative principles in place," Handel, who is the only candidate among the three who has run successfully for statewide office, said. She said she would relish the chance to go toe-to-toe with Nunn.

GA Jimmuh’s grandson is running for governor; he might win. Nunn’s daughter is a lock for victory, it would seem, considering the popularity of “big names” in the state.

Same with Terri Land here in Michigan. She’s smarter than the democrats by miles and unafraid to tell the truth about the “war on Women”.

She points out that many women make choices that end up earning them less money. When a woman chooses to leave the workplace or work part time to raise her children, that’s actually a good thing and should not be looked down upon by the left.

How silly. If they can’t use those other cards, they’ll simply smear her as a racist.

I'd still prefer Broun, but after quite a bit of mulling it over, I think I'll be voting for Karen. Until conservatives start doing conservative primaries, I feel that the number of endorsements she has from conservative commentators is the currently best work around for conservatives to decide around whom to coalesce. Plus she is still conservative, not like voting for Romney or something like that. The last thing I'd want to see in this election is a Perdue/Kingston runoff because conservatives split their vote.

I assume you mean the Democrat primary. There is no way Carter, if he is the Democrat nominee, beats Deal in the general election. On the other hand, I think Nunn’s daughter, if she is the nominee, has a chance to beat whomever comes out of the rather undistinguished Republican field.

Exactly.... Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. I wonder how many people who voted for Ross Perot to punish George H. W. Bush, realize that THEY GAVE US THE CLINTONS FOR LIFE!!!

From your written punctuation and grammar, it is obvious that you are an educated person. Therefore, why would you categorize Karen Handel as "undistinguished", and in so doing, imply that Michelle Nunn is "distinguished"?

Yes they can, and will, Karen.

Dims have no shame and are masters of the double standard/no standards.

Your gender will not protect you if you take a conservative position; you will be slandered mercilessly.

Only liberal women and blacks count to Democrats.

Believe it or not, I’ve recently moved into the “I will not vote the lesser of two statists” camp. If presidential primary was Jeb vs Cruz, I’m voting for Cruz no matter the polling. I’m tired of explaining a conservative principal to someone only to have to explain conservative doesn’t equal Republican. In this case in GA though, between Handel and Broun, I’m willing to “settle” with the electable conservative candidate.

” ... why would you categorize Karen Handel as “undistinguished” ...”

Handel is the best of the bunch, and I will vote for her in the primary. However, she has conducted a very low-key, almost invisible, campaign so far. Maybe she is saving her meager funds for the runoff election. She has to make it to the runoff first, however. The TV ads run by Perdue and Kingston against each other are embarrassing. Handel's best hope is that those two turn enough of their marginal supporters towards her.

I don't think Nunn is distinguished, and Handel may have the best chance to defeat her in the general election. Perdue’s money wouldn't mean that much in the general election because Nunn will have all the national Democrat money she needs.

Wanna bet?

Democrats can play anything they want, regardless of the truth.

Remember, they successfully tainted Bush nominee Charles Pickering as a racist, despite being endorsed by Medgar Evers and leaders of the Mississippi NAACP.

I’m going to assume you are living in Rhode Island as you have zero understanding of GA politics. I’m still laughing.

The next Senator from GA will likely be either Karen Handel or David Perdue. I’m voting for the most conservative candidate in the primary which is Paul Broun. In the likely runoff I will vote for Handel. She will clean Michelle Nunn’s clock.

Nathan Deal RINO that he is will easily win a second term as Governor. Jason Carter is a nobody as is Michelle Nunn.

Just looked at my sample ballot. Handel will get my Senate primary vote, even though she said something very silly here.

Gov: Deal is good on guns, but too establishment in other areas -- like voting to make the 'Patriot' act permanent, and we know what that has done to our liberties. John Barge does a good job explaining Common Core on his web page but the fact the math is so screwy in Common Core tells me you cannot ally with that program AT ALL, so, Barge is out. Pennington's pretty tight on all my issues. I'm going with Pennington for Governor, but Deal is pretty good on Immigration and Second Amendment, so I won't get TOO upset if Deal is re-elected in this primary.

Baccalao has been spoken of very favorably by a lot of Georgia freepers, and I have liked what I have heard about her positions. Baccalao will be my School Super pick.

Public service commissioner: I'm going with Douglass T Kidd. He's on record as decrying the high cost of energy, and especially the EPP, and he's described as conservative. Bubba McDonald, the incumbant, cannot be bothered to show up to work 50% of the time. Bubba also wants solar mandates. There's another person, Lutz, but I can't seem to find a lot about him.

I cannot find a Sheriff to vote for, they are all Democrats and F.o.O.'s, so I cannot vote for any of them.

I’m probably going to vote for Jeff Mann, but I fear Vernon is going to win that runoff.
