Troops, tanks, trucks, artillery, and armored personnel carriers of China's military were seen heading to the Vietnamese border on May 16 and 17, according to photographs taken by by residents near the border.

Chinese netizens have been posting photographs of the large movement of the People's Liberation Army, many of them showing Chinese troops in full combat gear heading to the local train station in Chongzuo, along with military vehicles.

One netizen said the Chinese military was taking the train from the Chongzuo station to Pingxiang City, which shares a 60-mile border with Vietnam. The netizen said that the Huu Nghi Border Gate to Vietnam is also now closed.

One of the photos, taken from inside a passenger train, shows the Chinese military preparing artillery for transport on a train track. Others show Chinese troops and military vehicles traveling along dirt roads.

China doesn't fear Vietnam, or the loss of any number of troops. They have lots of them and more men than women every day. 50,000,000 more.

What they simply have to do is dominate the region and Vietnam would have no recourse. In the end China will place it's oil rigs, Vietnam will take a token payment and China will get a secure supply of oil to fuel its’ military and industrial complex. Vietnam has no desire to be destroyed again this century. They are finally waking from the nightmare of the mid to late Twentieth Century that saw a massive percentage of their population decimated for the desire of nationalism.

All the while we will be setting up windmills and buying crappy solar panels from the same Chinese, while we sit on soil so loaded with oil and natural gas that a walk on the Beech at Malibu leaves tar on your feet as the oil naturally leaches into the ocean. All for the benefit of idiot environmentalist organizations controlled and run by Leftist morons.

~Underestimate the Vietnamese at your peril.~

Bingo. China vs Vietnam = Sovien Union vs Finland at the time.

Russia would have been intervene on side of Vietnam under normal conditions but it needs China right now to compensate for US and European sanctions.

Both Vietnam and China knows it and it makes some thrill.

>China is also erecting oil platforms in waters clear within Vietnamese territory.<

.
Aren’t they also erecting oil platforms in the area of Cuba and drilling horizontally into American oil formations?

Well, they are a Russian ally of sorts, but also a big American ally. We have big trade ties with Vietnam. I’d suspect if China do invade, it would just be the northern portion. No sense getting bogged down like US soldiers did back in the 60s

And they’re encroaching in Filipino territory. China is making friends all over the world.

I would urge Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the Phillipians, Indonesia and Vietnam to form an alliance. Quickly.

Combined, they have less than half the population of China. But combined, they have greater resources.

That's what nukes are for.

China is everybody’s good neighbor! They even landed a platoon of troops across India’s border. The whole East Asia region seems to be at a boiling point with territory disputes everywhere between China and a host of nations.

Does South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, India, Australia, Taiwan or anybody else opposed to Red China have some sort of a defense pact?

They won’t be fighting a country that will beat them, then let them off the hook this time. There won’t be any “ bombing pauses” or “ Christmas truce” against the Chinese. They won’t limit the ROE and ignore planes on the ground. They won’t spare the dikes. In other words the Chinese will actually fight to win.

Sidenote: as China chided the US in 1978: China did not fear Russia when it felt its national interest dictated that it should invade Vietnam to teach Vietnam a lesson.

Therefore, China asked, why did the US, which was much more powerful than China, fear so much to hit Cuba to teach Cuba a lesson?

I got to go to Kroger and get lots of Orville....The NV are sneaky little creatures. The Chinese will initially make gains and then they will suffer.

Vietnam has a very long history of war against invading Chinese. The recent claims of the Chinese over some islands near Vietnam which may hold oil reserves have exacerbated old memories of enmity.

Thank you. But while one can hate systems of government and what they do, one must never forget there is real suffering on the part of people who have nothing to do with their countries decisions and are powerless against them. Christ died for those as well. Sorry you caught me in a melancholy mood. While I understand the necessity of military action and support our military 1000 percent i hate the suffering inflicted on both sides. Must be getting old

From the comments at the link:

10 invasions of China into Vietnam. One can argue that China under the ruler of the Mongolians were more powerful (since the Mongols were unmatched by anyone) than the China now. The Yuan mount a full scale invasion into Vietnam 3 times and lost all 3 times.

938 China invaded Vietnam – China lost
980 China invaded Vietnam – China lost
1075 China invaded Vietnam – China lost
1257 China under Mongolia invaded Vietnam – China lost (Mongolian was the world’s only super power at this time)
1284 China under Mongolia invaded Vietnam – China lost (Kublai Khan’s son was also killed in battle)
1287 China under Mongolia invaded Vietnam – China lost (failed to avenge the death of Kublai Khan’s son)
1407 China invaded Vietnam at request of surviving Tran ruler after usurp of throne – China won with the help of internal fighting from loyal base of previous ruler. China promised to restore previous ruler but instead annex Vietnam.
1428 Vietnam regained independence by defeating China
1788 China invaded Vietnam – China lost
1979 China invaded Vietnam – China lost

What's key here is that the Vietnamese are raring to fight, in a way that Ukrainians (and Russians) are not. If war breaks out, we should send the Vietnamese all the mothballed Warsaw Pact equipment and munitions we can scrounge up from the NATO countries that were part of the Eastern Bloc. Ideally, they will give the Chinese a bloody nose and give pause to the expansionist impulse that has been characteristic of the Chinese Empire for 2000-odd years.

This is the other one, right across the border from Lang Son, which was the entry point for the Chinese invasion in 1979. It's been said that Deng Xiaoping invaded Vietnam to keep the PLA occupied while he consolidated power after his coup d'etat against Hua Guofeng, Mao's hand-picked successor.

Also, the ChiComs will not have internal enemies like we did during the Nam years with our left wing college students, left wing members of congress and our real enemies, the left wing mediots, who hated a strong America.
