Most political eyes will be focused on Georgias Republican primary on Tuesday. With Mitch McConnell a sure thing for re-election at this point (though see if Bevin can break 40%, which I think he can), Georgia is where the great unknown is.
In fact, there are only three things known about Georgias elections right now. One, the Democrats are not going to win the state in 2014. Look no further than DailyKos for the reason why. Two, David Perdue is going into the runoff. Three, turnout is going to be very low.
The only part of the state showing significant early voting is the Columbus-Muscogee area. That is because of a highly contested mayoral race in that consolidated city-county government. Fulton County, which had more than 100,000 early votes in 2012 has had somewhere around 10,000 this year.
This is the first time Georgia has had a primary in May. It is usually the third week of July. People just arent paying attention. Likewise, there are so many candidates and so many races that a lot of voters have decided to just wait for the runoff to vote. Let the die-hards pare down the ballot.
That leads us to the contenders of the Republican primary for the Senate. The Democrats, in their Senate primary, are certain to nominate Michelle Nunn who is that rare candidate whose last name and accomplishments are the same thing.
David Perdue will get in. He has spent a lot of money to generate name ID for himself and tie himself to former Governor Sonny Perdue, his cousin. It has worked. When he goes off talking points, Perdue makes routine flubs. He attacked those without college degrees a reference to Karen Handel.

Better pay attention to Nunn. We can make fun of her last name but she’s running a pretty good campaign right now. Watching her commercials you’d think she’s a conservative.
The commercials I’ve seen her in are full of platitudes and “peace, love, dove” slogans - just the kind of sloganeering that came with Obama’s Hope and Change.
True, she has the name, but that name hasn’t been mentioned around here since her father left in the early 1990s. And he’s done NOTHING except join every corporate and university boards he can get on for a paycheck.
Nope, not buying her danger. She’s a mouse, daughter of a used-to-be who most Georgians today can’t remember his face nor care to. She’ll get the same votes as any other Democrat would - and that isn’t enough to win in today’s Georgia. We’re much better than that.
I hope you’re right!
GEORGIA FREEPERS- IF TURNOUT IS LOW THEN GET OUT ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS AND GET THEM TO GET THEIR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS!!!!
JUST A FEW VOTES WILL SWING IT, IF TURNOUT IS LOW!!!!!
START MAKING CALLS AND ACTIVATING LOCAL TEA PARTY GROUPS!!!
Go to Spring & 14th Street and see the PARADE out of the parking lot of WOMEN with Nunn signs... They are not just from Fulton & DeKalb either... I see it almost daily...
Nunn name recognition will play well in Central GA...
The “tribe” mentality worked very well for BO...
Sorry Handle’s past associations leave me cold. She is a Susan Collin’s type ‘conservative’. I don’t trust her at all.
The only really great news is that Nunn has committed stupidicide......when asked in a tv interview if she would have voted for the ACA she punted so badly it was scary.
She blew the ‘would you have voted for the ACA’ question....she is toast
No matter which GOP runs against her, that clip will be played over and over and over
(In Georgia Primary) turnout is going to be very low.

That’s good news. Rule of Thumb: Low turnout usually benefits the more Conservative candidate because, Conservatives will crawl over broken glass to get to the polling place. So: Low voter turnout = Good news. I’m not one of those people who believes that every, eligible voter should vote. I’m tired of uninformed idiots with the IQ of a can of Spam electing Liberal as**holes.

Down here in Texas, we have what we call: “Ten Tells Ten”. You challenge every supporter of your Conservative candidate that you can find, to get out there and tell ten of their family members and/or friends about the candidate; win those 10 people over to vote for said candidate and tell them to tell 10 people...... those 10 people tell 10 people.... You get the picture. IT WORKS!!! Even big Establishment dollars can beat grass roots activism.
There six states with primaries Tuesday, May 20, 2014.
House
Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Oregon and Pennsylvania
Senate
Arkansas, Georgia and Kentucky.
CORRECTION TO MY POST #11: Last sentence should read: “....cannot beat grass roots activism.”
Oh please. You know there are traditional liberals out there every day and they vote Democrat. They’re always there and there aren’t enough of them. You can see it every important statewide office, most of the Congressional seats, and even the last few Senate seats. The Nunn Oooga Booga is just not there.
So what you’re saying is women won’t vote for women ONLY because they are women...
We’ll see... Personally, Nunn (Martin) is as dumb as a box of rocks... Both sides have LIV’s... Let’s see who appeals to whom and generates voter excitement which translates into turnout...
FR is full of “principled” voters who are simply going to stay home if THEIR candidate doesn’t get the nomination...
Life goes on outside of FR, and people in this state are primarily past the Talmadge, Nunn, Fowler and Cleland dally- with-Democrats phase. The Democrat ‘there’ just isn’t there.
Additionally, I give women more credit that you seem to place on their ability to choose without the ‘sex’ factor.
There may be some polls out that say she is viable, but there is probably an awful lot of pollster/consultant ‘consulting’ going on there to make it seem like a real horse race.
I’m not picking a fight...
However, the campaign only really starts after both parties have a nominee... We’ll see how the demographics fall once that happens...
While GA is red, it’s not as bright red as you pretend. If it were, we could get some REAL things done here like tax reform & constitutional carry... There are still MANY Democrats who are now Republicans because it was the political thing to do to keep their seat...
The old-timers remember what a disaster Nunn was... The LIV’s and first-time voters don’t...
“Watching her commercials youd think shes a conservative”
Michelle Nunn has the personality of navel lint. Watching her ads you find out she went to church with her Grandmother. That’s the total extent of her ads. She has no chance to win agains’t the republican candidate.
As one conservative to another, I hope you're right. right now none of the gop candidates are making me jump up and down about voting for them.
