Go to policeone.com and read various articles and ESPECIALLY, the comment section below articles. Police officers often talk about having the “warrior mindset”. They often refer to themselves as “warriors”. They don’t view themselves as “peace officers”.
Here’s one example of many.

I read the article you linked. The article did not seem at all like a warrior mindset. Then I read the comments. Wow.

The two officers in the story got bushwhacked. One of the perps connected with half his rounds at short range. The author of the article focused on how to improve situational awareness. The commenters want better armor and more guns.

I think you're missing my point. Police no longer view themselves as “peace officers” but as “warriors”, and they treat the general public as “ civilians”, and often, as in this story, suspected *enemy combatants*.

Why else would they handcuff women, and point guns at kids? This is from that incident:

With this guy running loose the local and state police were understandably a wee bit antsy..

too bad if they have their panties in a wad over some of 'theirs' gettin shot...pointing rifles at commuters and running super-sized dragnets is piss-poor police work at the least, and criminal when they start threatening citizens going about their daily business...

like i said, cops better beware who theyre pointing weapons towards, lest they bite off more than they can chew someday, which seems to be a pretty small bite from the looks of their bravery and ability to deal with determined adversaries like the guy in the story or the ex-cop [dorner ?] in cali from your newspaper laddies truck photos posted earlier...

This seems vaguely familiar.

You really haven’t lived until you’ve spent 45 minutes with a Mossberg pointed at your face, held by a grinning skin-head in SWAT garb.

A fun Saturday night, for sure.

Understandable, but not proper.

I understand why Hitler had six million Jews murdered, he viewed them as an existential threat to him and his Reich. That doesn’t mean I agree with him, just that I understand the errors in his premises, reasoning processes and conclusions.

I deplore modern “American” police practices for the same reasons I deplored the SS, the KGB and the Stasi.

You are, perhaps, more patient and more forgiving than I.

From your link:

Police Chief Daniel Oates on Monday apologized to the innocent bystanders that got caught up in the search for the suspect. Oates also said the ends justify the means since the suspect was caught.

Ends justify the means...pure totalitarian evil.

Hey, at least all the officers went home to their families that night.

I filed.
They closed ranks.

It’s not like I’ve forgotten or forgiven.

In June of 2012 the Aurora PD blocked a street. Then they removed the occupants of over twenty cars, cuffed them and detained them. They caught the bank robber. This was only reported on one TV station, and Free Republic.

Depends on the area. Wrongful arrest for carrying a firearm is usually about $10K.

The judiciary is just a bunch of political hacks in black muumuus. You’d sooner find “justice” in a box of cracker jacks.

I advocate simply defunding the police. I have little need for their services and do not wish to pay for them. Treat it like a tax. End police taxes. I want a police tax cut.
